Leaving the Debates

Recommended Posts

OK.

I am a very nice person. I like people, and enjoy chatting.

I also enjoy debate. I like the exchange of ideas, and at times will make very vehement arguments so as to spur things on.

But I have gotten into several debates now that always end in the same thing, going over the same ground over and over, and I sense that people are getting much more serious than I.

So in the name of peace among my brothers and sisters who are first here to battle weight, and encourage each other in that fight, I am going to back out of all debates relating to the November 4th election. May the one people who are the best for our country win in the presidency, the congress, all of the state and local elections, and in turn may our country move forward as such.

If you stand with me... say I.

If you don't stand with me... carry on without me. :w00t:

Friends and politics do not mix well.

I am right with you Steve. Although I occasionally read the posts, I stopped posting myself. Got tired of the insults and belittling.

Yes, politics, private schooling and Protein (roflmao!!!!) guaranteed to cause fights amongst even the best friends. I never discuss my polotical beliefs or educational choices, dont know why I cant shut my mouth on the Protein issue, tee hee.

Something about being online makes us all tend to be a bit more vehement and a bit less respectful, I think. I get angry quite easily but I always regret it, and afterall, what on earth does it MATTER if someone you'll never meet and never know thinks differently to you?

I'm with ya, Steve. I like to exchange ideas, and love to play devil's advocate. The last few times I posted on the political threads, there was little logic, mucho mindless blathering and propaganda, and the odd personal attack. So I have to limit myself....I always think "This is the last post", but something mega-stupid always draws me back in.

I am right with you Steve.

Debate and discussion of ideas is healthy; insults, arguments and snide comments are not healthy whether between friends, co-workers or strangers.

Regardless of political opinion or the results of the election, I hope everyone votes, and then respectfully works with the government.

So I was trying to focus on your words and how super smart they were...but I have a confession. All I see is your new super hot profile pic!

Aye.

It got to a point where the debate became pointless and it became more of a "I'm smarter and better than you and I got that way because I NEVER bother myself with facts."

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
