Banded feeling great!!!!!!!!!!!

Recommended Posts

I was banded on 10/15/08. Everything went smoothly no complications I received a 10 cc band. the Dr. told my husband that my stomach was small after the surgery was completed. When I spoke to him he said everything went great and that the surgery was very easy. Now this is the third day from the surgery and I have no real appetite. I am forcing myself to eat, diet shakes with added whey Protein are the easiet. I am also eating cottage cheese and I am going to start baby food in the morning. How did everyone else do right after surgery. I really have no appetite at all. This is a strange sensation for me. LOL Even when I am sick I could always eat. LOL I still can't believe am here everything seems so much brighter.:w00t:

Wow, it sounds like you had a great experience. I am waiting to hear back from insurance so that I can get banded too. So, do they not tell you what size band they use until they put it in? Are you gassy?

I was banded on Oct. 9th. Hate to burst your bubble but appetite does return after about 6 or 7 days. Glad you guys have had good experiences. Mine was great too. Very little pain, very little nausea and the gas pain has gone away now (finally). I get gassy when I eat some things now (like applesauce, who'da thunk it) and some things I tolerate incredibly well that I didn't think I would (like beans). My incisions look great and I'm back at work having everyone tell me how good I look. I've lost 19 pounds so far including 11 from pre-op diet. Best of luck to us all!

I'm feeling better each day. As I mentioned in other posts, I didn't feel much surgical pain b/c I only have one incision site. My doctor uses a one port technique whereby he places the band though my belly button and the scar is hidden within. the gas pains were the bane of my existence. But I feel great as trhe days wear on. My throat is a little sore from the tube, but that's about it.

I am glad everyone is doing great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I guess I may go back to work tomorrow maybe not. LOL

That is a real bummer on the appetite though. But even though I am kinda having cravings I am sticking to diet shakes, cottage cheese, baby food, and cream of wheat so far and having no problems. I am also taking the proteing bullets and it seems to help with my feeling full. What is everyone else eating?

My incisions are doing well. I am going to try and walk tonite.

I have lost 15lbs so far. I gained 11 before surgery:sad:. It feels good to be on the loosing side again.

How are those Protein bullets working out for you? One a day, or less frequently? What flavors are best? Do you drink it all at once, or space it out throughout the day?

I'm considering doing this during my full liquids phase post-op (Days 4-14). I've heard they control your hunger pretty well.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
