How much will my doc give me on my 2nd fill?

Recommended Posts

My band's capacity is 14cc's and my 1st fill was 4cc's which didn't restrict me at all. AT ALL!!! So what do you think my doc will give me--2cc's?

The question everyone would like to know. The doctor will already have an idea of what he gives on 2nd fill. Mine went to 6cc. I had 3.5 at first. They need to see if you can drink and swallow without problems. You have to realize that sometime the fills kick in 24-72 hours after the fill. Take it easy after the fill liquids and mushies to be on the safe side.

I had my second fill yesterday and my doctor gave me only 0.2 cc increasing me from 5.5 ccs to 5.7 ccs. His rule of thumb to determine how much to give me is how much I eat and how long I stay satisfied. I usually eat around a cup to a cup and a half and I stay full for an hour or two, longer if I don't drink anything for a few hours.

After the fill he recommends that I do 2 days liquid then 2 days mushies. After that the swelling should have subsided and I can eat regular food.

I didn't notice the difference at first but a day later I can tell just from drinking.

So good luck.

My doc decided to give me 1.5 cc's 3 days ago after giving me 4 cc's on my 1st fill, on my 14 cc band capacity. When he asked me if I could eat 2 cups at a meal and I said "oh, yeah!", he decided to give me the 1.5 cc's.

I have had no restriction to speak of except something odd happened to me tonight. My wife made a pork chop casserole with whole wheat rice for dinner. Everything went down fine as usual. I do try to chew well, but usually I forget and in addition, I still eat too fast. NOW, after a few hours later I made a plate of the casserole again, including some pork chop. This time I felt it backing up on me a bit, and I had some heartburn. However, when I waited a minute or so several times, I was able to eat it without incident. I wonder why I had problems even though it was the exact food I had a few hours earlier?

I also wonder if my band is restricting me finally--just don't know.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
