Hi...

My name is linda...I've been approved for lap band surgery and my surgery date is Nov 14.

I've been "going through the process" since January. I thought I wouldn't get the surgery until next year. So I'm a little shocked that it is happening so soon. But I'm happy!

I found out three days ago, and ever since I've been eating like crazy. I guess it's the "Last Supper" syndrome. I weigh 265, the highest weight I have ever been in my entire life. I had two babies fourteen months apart, and it took a real toll on me. But most of my weight gain is due to overeating. Like most of you I have been on diets most of my life. The most I ever lost was 40 lbs five years ago. I dieted (low fat) and exercised (walking and lifting weights), but couldn't maintain it and gained it all back and quite a bit more.

My surgeon is Dr. Bonanni in Reading, PA.

I'm a sahm with four children. I look forward to reading the posts here and posting myself!

Linda

Hi Linda!

Congratulations on your approval, and good luck with your surgery! I know what the waiting is like, and then when you get your date all of a sudden it seems like it's too soon. I waited a year and now it seems like it was no time at all.

I'm a mom of small children myself, and one of my challenges now is convincing the younger one that I don't want to eat that goldfish she's so eager to feed me. Or brownie, or potato chip, or whatever. :o

CONGRATULATIONS!!! I am 10 days post op and can relate to the long process of jumping through all those hoops to get to the point of getting a date. I also know about the eating after I got my date. my mom and I ate out almost every day for lunch( the kids were in school) I had this thought that I need to eat everything that I wouldn't be able to eat again. And thank god I didnt gain anymore weight. soon you will be on the other side, and be on your way to a happier healthier you. good luck

Thanks for the welcome. :o

I'm trying to prepare myself...I've been taking Vitamins for some time now, hoping that if my nutrition is good I'll heal better. I've also started to investigate the Protein mixes.

But I am really excited and I can't wait. :P

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
