Recommended Posts

Greetings, I am a 55 year old hapily married christian man. I will be having surgery on November 4. I am hoping someone out there will walk through this journey with me. I will have lots of questions. I am allready experiencing some anxiety. I am trying to keep my surgery as confidential as possable. It would be good to talk to someone who has experience with this.

Hello, I had tons of questions too and you're right for coming on here. I think it's easier to ask people who have been through this as opposed to asking the Dr.'s sometimes. I'm only 2 1/2 weeks post op but I'll try to answer any questions. Take care!

Thanks Julie. I am getting both excited and reluctant about the surgery. How are things going for you after just 2 1/2 weeks? Any pain, any discomfort, any regrts?

Thanks for responding

Hi Sandy, I am 5 weeks out and must say I am feeling fantastic. I have no pain, no regrets. Occasionally if I wear pants with a high waist I will feel a little soreness, but it's really mild. I haven't lost as much weight as I had hoped by now, but I'm learning to focus on things besides the # on the scale!! I fight the urge to weigh myself every day. I am starting to exercise more and just can't say enough about how good I am feeling after having this surgery. I also haven't gotten 'stuck' or PB'd yet either.. KNOCK ON WOOD. I am extremely careful as I have major fear of throwing up... always have. Let us know any other questions you have and we'll try to answer.. at least I will.

Hey, nope, no more pain or soreness. I'm still a little careful about not twisting or bending too fast and running down steps makes me hold my incision but I think that's just me and I'm weird. No regrets either. I'm not even 3 weeks out and I feel no different than I felt before (aside from being 15 pounds lighter). :)

Pb'ing occurs when you get stuck. I haven't experienced the Pb'ing part but I did get a little stuck the other night. It didn't hurt but just felt like pressure in my chest until the piece of food passed through. Only took a minute or so. From what I understand though, sometimes when you eat too much or get stuck your stomach causes you to burp and pushes that bite back up, sometimes with some slime. EW!!! :cool2:

I go next week for my first fill and I can't wait. I'm very hungry every few hours now so I'm hoping that will help. Also, since I have no restriction I can pretty much eat anything I want now. I'm glad for that but at the same time eating whatever I want got me to this point so I'm hoping the band will act as a reminder to eat less. Try not to stress or worry. I worked myself up before my surgery wondering everything and feeling like if I didn't have all my answers I'd be lost. But it's definitely a learning process and since everyone is different, what's happening to you will be your own unique experience. My best piece of advice is if you have children in your life, keep a pillow close by! My son still forgets and tries to climb on my stomach!! I try to keep a pillow between my stomach and him at all times! Take care!
