I am confused and need help to understand

Recommended Posts

Hey everybody,

It has been about 10 months now since my surgery. I have lost 70lbs and am very happy. My problem is is that I have started a bad habbit again of eating wrong. The good thing is that I eat but I don't eat like I used to. I can't. My biggest problem is that I am constantly on the road and can't eat meals like everyone else. My job demands constant driving and making sure I get to my destinations on time. I can't slow down. So I resort to eating kettle cooked chips and eating a meal at the end of the night. NOthing is healthy for road travelers on the go. It is so frustrating. Also I love to eat ice cream. It is the best thing in the world.

Question one about the band

after I eat a meal is ice cream considered a liquid? Reason why I ask is because of the rule about not drinking one hour and a half?

Also I find myself eating more food than usual and I don't feel full. Can my band get messed up if i am eating a lot of food and not feeling pain?

Last question:

Every week I get an episode where I have to throw up because I am still learning about certain foods that get stuck. eggs are the worst. I have had this problem for about 2 months. I am scared that my band is damaged or something. I guess I just need some insight. Can any one help?

Yes, ice cream is a liquid because it's melted by the time it's in your stomach. So are sugar free popsicles and creamsicles, but at least they might satisfy a craving before you pack a thousand ice cream calories into yourself.

You're not feeling full because you're eating stuff that passes through the band. That in itself won't hurt your band but you might as well never got it if you keep working around it. Throw the chips away and get a bag of Jerky, some carrots and celery, and some low fat cheese sticks to munch on if you need road food. Jerky is good because it takes forever to chew and a small amount satisfies that salt-tooth craving.

Eat slower, one bite at a time. Put the fork down between each bite and chew. You should be able to tell that you're getting stuck before a whole lot of food gets in there and avoid it or at least minimize it.

If you are concerned about your band you need to see your doctor.

Hope that helps.

I am on the road quite a bit for my job and also just did 4 weekends ina row on conventions. There are plenty of healthy choices if you look for them or plan ahead. The band is just a tool, the rest is up to you. I am 7 weeks out and have lost 41#. I am committed to being fit by next spring. I would make an appointment with a nutrionalist and review what you are eating and some of your on the road options

The first thing that popped into my head reading your post is that if I had that predicament, I'd pack a small ice chest every morning with healthier foods (my favorites like cottage cheese & berries, cheese sticks, a Peanut Butter sandwich, seafood or chicken salad, fruit cups, etc.). You don't really kettle chips and ice cream will get you where you want to be, do you?

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
