Hello to all my "co-bandsters",

I have never posted here, although I've been a member for over a year. I was banded on Dec 29th 2005, lost 20 pounds initially and fell off the wagon hard, by not following the "Rules" and busying myself in a lot of other distractions going on in my life. I am the "poster child" for what not to do when you get a Lapband. I'm now experiencing a lot of Acid Reflux and have been scheduled for an Upper GI kind of scope on Oct. 29th. I am praying that there's nothing wrong with my esophagus or stomach or anything else as I have a new found determination to lose the weight that I was so eager and ready to lose in 2005, with or without my Lapband.

I allowed a spirit of discouragement, get the best of me after gaining that original 20lb. weight loss back, but I have to, pick myself up, dust myself off, and start all over again. So I will be keeping you informed of my journey.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
