nikeplus challange

Recommended Posts

Not sure how many of my June bandies will have a nikeplus thing in their shoe but.... I was part of a nikeplus challange and it just ended. I started a new one and of course wanted to invite the Junies to walk with me!!!

below is a copy/paste of the post I put in the fitness section of the forums

Some of us had a challange going on nikeplus.com that just ended. I would like to start another one and wanted to see if any of my fellow LBT bansters would like to join me:thumbup::regular_smile:

I set the challange for 45 days since we are half way through October.

I will start one up and if you would like an invite PM me or post a reply for an invite!!

It's a great way to stay motivated and get those miles in!!!

hi Huggie Bear, what is the challenge exactly? do you commit to a number of miles in a time frame, then track it on nikeplus.com? that sounds like fun! good way to keep me getting on the treadmill!

Sorry I'm just checking in on my way to bed

I am KFM on nikeplus

Whosyadaddy was in it too... he has actually started up one also...

so far there is just me and one other person who is in daddys too

I think maybe I will just drop mine and we should all join one central one...

Grey... what it is ...

there is a sensor you can put in your shoe that sends information to your ipod about your distance, pace, calories burned and such...

You can join a challange where everyone sends their run information to nikeplus.com and it keeps track of everyones runs and the person who runs the most miles is the winner...

It can get quite competative and is a GREAT motivator for me...

I am in one with a guy where I work and it is getting rediculious :)

I will check in tomorrow and see about getting everything set to get us all in the same challange and at least in the same book if not on the same page...

Nite all

Kim

hi all! this sounds like a great way to keep motivated to move! i have an ipod shuffle - not sure it would work with that. but maybe my 40 lb present (just hit that today!) could be an ipod upgrade... hmmm. i am going on a cruise in 3 weeks. i might start the challenge when i get back. i'm sure that sensor in my shoe would set something off at the airport! i'll geton that site and read more about how it works. it'll be a good way to keep going thru the cold winter! thanks for this info Huggie!

to my knowledge it is just the I-pod nano and the new ip[od touch (have an order in with santa for one!!)

It is crazy motivating!!

Especially with one of the guys in my other challange here at work with me.

Have fun on that cruise

I was mistaken... you can get the wrist band and the sensor together for 30.00 and just plug in the usb port thing and download your runs... you do NOT have to have an ipod that way...

That is a cheaper way to be able to use the nike+

and if you get invited late after the challange starts it puts all your runs in for you from the date the challange started.

Oh and if you want an invite whosyadaddy started one the same day I did and he had more people in his already so send a pm to whosyadaddy with your e-mail address and he will shoot you an invite for the LBT2 challange

Just to let you know how motivating it is... my exercise ticker is for doing 30 minutes every day for the month of October.... I am ahead of the curve for the first time since surgery!!!

hi huggie! is nikeplus for running only? will it track walking on a treadmill and workouts on an elliptical? on a bike? when i look at nikeplus.com - it seems to be geared towards runners. thanks!

p.s. i got my ipod! wondering if i want to do nikeplus now - i will if it'll work for my exercises. i don't run. i do jog sometimes.

Hey Grey... you can calibrate it for walking or running... I def. am walking. I try to get up to jogging and I get to the middle of week two of couch to 5k and my shins start bathering me :cursing:... I do eliptical too and it does not count anything for that... just running, jogging, walking

I managed to break my toe and am just now getting back into it tho

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
