Beginning a new life

Recommended Posts

I had my surgery October 10,2008. I was very excited to begin this journey. I am looking forward to being able to do many things that are painful right now such as hiking, walking,,skating, dancing etc. I want to have a richer, fuller life than I have been experiencing.

So far, it has been fine. I am on the full liquid phase right now. I am looking forward to each phase. I am taking two weeks off work just in case there are difficulties. I have also begun to walk daily to get back in better form.

I hope to learn many things on lapband talk. I have wondered how it will be when I am further into this journey.

:thumbup:Stay encouraged !!! You will go through many stages in the beginning, however it will become second nature to you in time. Remember you didn't put the weight on over night, so the weight loss will take time to come off. You stick to the small meals and eat slowly and CHEW CHEW CHEW...you will be successful in your journey.

It was amazing to get your response. I think its great we had the procedure the same day. I have felt great. I had only one day of discomfort. I hope you are doing well also. The only problem now is I am sickkkkkkkkkkk of the liquid diet. I just keep thinking of how wonderful it will be when I can to do more with my family. My husband has been very encouraging. I am taking two weeks off work just to get the diet straight and to get my strength back. I feel guilty at times because I feel so good, but not so guilty to give up this time. I hope you are coping well also. I look forward to each phase. I will be starting the pureed food this Sunday. I will think about you VEEJEE.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
