Hey fellow Eeyore lover! Lol, I might have well have been alone. DH was working 16 hour days. It wasn't too bad honestly. Aside from the fact that no laundry or housework got done since I couldn't carry stuff downstairs. But I was happy to be by myself. I think I got more rest and took better care of myself. And there wasn't really anything I thought I needed him to be there for. Good luck!

I ended up spending the night because of late surgery. I had my sister for the afternoon but was alone at night. My second day post-op was the worse - shoulder, neck, and just pain! I laid low. Just be sure you can get a hold of someone.

I was home alone. I was fine. I did take more pain meds than I thought i'd need.

You will be fine. You will be sore, and the gas pain is icky. Have your sugar free Jello and popsicles ready, they will taste good tomorrow. Rest, but be sure to walk, don't go too far, you will be able to do more and more. Remember, your port is the most sore, but it gets better very quickly.

My Mom came over the day after I WISH I had been alone. Oh how I wish, she drove me crazy.

Take care Debbie

How far away will someone be? I can't necessarily advocate for the Jewish mother division invading (the way mine did ...) but I think having someone being nearby is good. Make sure that someone checks in on you even if it's just telephonic ... volunteer your nurse at the doctor's office if necessary!

I've had the opposite happen with bp. They're considering adding meds for it. Because all of a sudden I'm high. :tongue2: But I'm off my sugar meds since the surgery.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
