What Else Can Go WRONG !!!!!

Recommended Posts

I'm sure you guys recall all the drama I've gone through with the my doctors office staff to get my paperwork submitted to the insurance company and not being notifed once I was approved.:huh2: I honestly thought I was smooth sailing now since I have my date. And don't forget the drama about trying to make spend an additional $483 on Optifast products for this crazy three week pre-op. After battling all this I get a call yesterday at :cursing:4:50 from the nurse at the doctor's office and they tell me I need

1. Pre-op Physcial (within six months of surgery)

2. Chest X-Ray

3. EKG

4. CBC (Blood Work)

5. Cam- 7 (Blood Work)

Of course I asked why would I JUST be told this when I'm a week and half away from my surgery 10/23. This should have been told when I gave my paperwork to be submitted, or maybe within the two weeks straight I called to get my paperwork submitted, or how about when I received my date and if all else when I came in the office to get the pre-op diet. But less than two weeks before surgery. Does this sound stupid to anyone else? So now I'm waiting for my Primary Care office to open to see I can beg my way in for an appointment to get this taken care of because of course if I can't my surgery will have to be postponed. And I've already scheduled the time off of my job.

What I don't get.. don't this doctor's office know that the lapband community is small. And if they provide poor service it will impact new clients?

Needless to say I'm PISSED. :)

My doctor's office (Primary Care) worked me in on Thursday so I will get the Physcial, EKG and orders for everything else taken care of on that day and the following day get the blood work and the actual XRAY.

I've realized something... We all have to work hard to have this surgery. We have proven the test of time. The six month weight managment, mental health eval., test etc. If we have not shown our committed we are to our new lifestyle. I don't what else we can do to prove it....

There you go...Great way of thinking. You will succeed because you just realize that it does take a lot of work and even patience when it comes to your Lap Band journey. My surgery was cash pay so I didn't deal with the insurance company. One thing I wanted to mention was I had all of those test performed and more. My doctor explained to me that my chest x-ray was to be done within 3-4 days of my surgery. All other test were to be done within 1-2 weeks before my surgery. He said he didn't want any unexpected complications to come up as peoples medical conditions can change in a matter of days.

I know it is frustrating and I certainly understand. I just wanted to give you an insight from a different POV. I hope this helps. Wishing yo all the best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Stephanie:

I understand how you feel. I cancelled my original date in June because I was not given complete information from my surgeons office.:cool2: I was then rescheduled for 10/10/08 after completing all the test including chest xray, EKG, pysch, sleep test, nutritional counseling etc. I had endured the pre-op diet showing my commitment, but I had what I thought were just allergies. Unfortunately, after checking in the hospital, my surgery had to be cancelled because I have bronchitis.:eek:

Hang in there and goodluck with all those required test. :thumbup:I just don't understand why they didn't let you know about those requirement while you were waiting for your approval. Someone dropped the ball.

I feel your pain! I too have a dr. with an incompetent staff. It's like....I don't have a problem having these tests done, it’s the fact that they just call you up like "oh, you didn't know???" My pressure is rising thinking about it....LOL

I am sorry that you are going through so much. You said it right about how hard we have had to work just to get the surgery. If people understood the mental anguish that we go through trying to get all of the requirements handled... You stay strong. Just remember why you were doing this in the first place. Keep that in mind. It will all work out.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
