Where would a person buy Greek yogurt?

Recommended Posts

I live in Austin and have access to HEB, Central Market, Whole Foods, and Walmart. I read a lot of people on here that are having Greek yogurt and am wondering where I can buy some...it must be good. Is it different/better than regular yogurt? I am not a real yogurt fan...sometimes I find it to be too tart/tangy. But if this many people are eating it, it can't be all that bad.

I just saw some in our local grocery store in MI. It was with the other yogurts - all by itself. It was a small container and a bit pricey. I do not think it was flavored. I have only had it with cucumbers in it for a sauce for kabobs.

Whole Foods will have it. My favorite brand is Fage. I get the 0% and add berries and sweet and low to it.

The low fat and total are like eating cream.........it's delicious. Any nice big grocery store will have some if they carry natrual foods. In Ohio I've seen it at Kroger and Giant Eagle.

Bon Apetit.

I also like the fage brand the best. It's hit and miss as to which grocery stores carry it around me - some don't at all, some do but not the plain, nonfat kind, others carry it all. In the grocery stores I usually find it in the refridgerated organic section. My favorite place to get it is at Whole Foods or if I'm visiting family at Trader Joes (unfortunately there is not one in KC) these 2 locations seem to have the best price on the greek yogurt.

I do like yogurt but notice a huge difference in the lack of tang/tartness in the greek yogurt - so hopefully you will enjoy it. I just stir in a couple packets of splenda and some diced fruit into the plain, nonfat version.

I go shopping in the Dallas Whole Foods, HEB, Central Market, and Sprouts. They all have Greek yogurt.

Do they have Sprouts in Austin? LOVE LOVE LOVE Sprouts!

In Houston I've only been able to find the tiny containers for $1.99 but finally found a big container yesterday at HEB Market for $4.99 (it was by all the organic yogurt, they have an entire section). HTH

in dallas i'm noticing more & more stores carrying it: krogger/walmart/whole foods....got some at super target the other day.

i like the individual oikos honey 5.3oz cups - i seem to put honey in the greek yogurt anyway with some bare naked granola...

I can get the Oikos plain, fat free, individual cups at my Wal-Mart, I've seen it and several other brands at HEB Central Market, and I've seen some at either Albertson's or Tom Thumb. I like it better than regular yogurt because it has a thicker consistency and it tastes more real, if that makes any sense at all.

I don't like yogurt at all for the tart taste of it, is this enough different of a taste that I should try it? Also remind me please, what is the benefit of it over regular yogurt?

I found it at Walmart, they just started carrying it. You might try asking the store manager about getting it.

The greek yogurt has more Protein in it than the regular yogurt. Greek yogurt has more consistancy (sp). I can only find the plain in the large size (4.??) and the smaller size was in vanilla and plain(1.46). I use splenda and fruit in mine.

I buy mine at the Whole Foods Market because I really like the Fage brand. The individual cups have more Protein than the Oikos individual cups although if I'm at Kroger that is closer to me than the WFM I can only get the Oikos brand. They're both good, but I do prefer Fage. I put strawberries, blueberries, raspberries etc... and def. a small amount of granola since it's so high in carbs. I stir in some splenda and mmm good. It's a meal in and of itself and a great snack. Enjoy!!!

If you like a little granola on your yogurt. You might enjoy "Uncle Sam's Cereal". It has no added sugar/sweeteners. So it cuts back on the carb load, but ups the Fiber and adds the crunch you are looking for.

High Fiber Cereal, Whole Grain, Flaxseed-Omega-3's

My Mom and Aunt love the stuff. I am neutral on it. But, it is a nice option to granola, which I would love to eat, but avoid because of the high sugar content.

By the way they sell it at Wal-Mart.

i just called my Walmart here Louisiana he said they carry it so cool

I hope you like it. It tastes like oats to me! However it does have a unique nutty taste to it, and the flax seed adds something to it too.

Like I said, "I am neutral." But, there are a lot of people coo coo for it.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
