cmgwrn 0 Posted October 13, 2008 Hello - i just found this website and have been reading the forums - thank you - it is really helpful. This is my first post. :smile:I live in Paris France and will have the band on Nov 17. I am getting very nervous because they do things very differently here! no pre-op exam other than chest xray so far, (i still have to meet with the anesthesiologist) and the surgeon (who is a known and recommended reputable surgeon) says after surgery you just eat normally - just chew your food alot! Quite different from all of the research I've done on-line about liquid, pureed diets, etc. I do have a therapist/psychiatrist i am working with, so that is good. I was wondering what some of the negative psychological effects of the band are - obviously i have a problem with food and fixing the stomach is just part of it - what about all of the emotional aspects? just wondering if anyone has any advice. thanks so much! Kalipso2 25 Posted October 13, 2008 congratulations on making the first step towards being healthy! the main problem i had was whether i wanted to listen to my brain or my stomach. my brain keeps telling me the food i'm eating tastes SO good so have just one more bite BUT my stomach tells me i'm full. if i listen to my stomach i end up PB'ing and if i listen to my stomach i'm left feeling depressed and deprived. RestlessMonkey 7 Posted October 13, 2008 So far I honestly can't see any downside to the band, but I only was banded 8/29. I got my first fill and still don't have restriction but am not worried because I knew it would be a process and require patience, it's not a quick easy fix. Otherwise, for me, it's honestly all good! :smile2: Good luck to you!
