New Surgical Center in Hurst

Recommended Posts

Just thought I'd let anyone looking for a place to be banded know there is a new Specialty Surgical Center of Fort Worth in Hurst off of Precinct Line Rd. Dr. Carter does his bands and fills there now. I heard it advertised on the radio this morning. I went there on Monday for a fill as well. Very nice place.

More info here http://www.carterlapband.com/ Dr. Carter is great!!!!

That's where my dr., Dr. Marsden, does his lapbands, too! I have reservations for a seminar on the 13th of July. Tell me more! Cindy

Hi, Patty! I guess I'll probably see you on the 13th. Vicky at Dr. Marsden's office said if your place wasn't "in network" for me, they would do something so I am not penalized. Do you know what that means?

I've heard great things about your center...how many surgeries (lapband) are done each day? Thanks, Cindy

Hey there Cindy!

Since I am not in the Business Office, I am not the expert in the area of in-network vs out of network. Please call Rhonda here at the office at 817-520-5400 and she can help you.

Please stop me when you come in for your fill so we can chat!!! I look forward to meeting you soon!

Have a wonderful 4th of July!!

Patty Waldrop

I go for a fill today. I had my second fill on June 14 but I don't feel any restriction so I asked Dr. Carter for another fill and he set up the appointment for me at the Surgical Center. I actually went last Monday to get the fill but they wouldn't let me because my blood pressure was way high! 169/110. They said with the swelling I could possible PB and have a stroke. I was disappointed because I really wanted the fill but after thinking about it I am glad they were looking out for my health and not my money! So I scheduled a Dr. appointment for the next day and got some BP medicine and my wife(who is an LVN) took my BP yesterday and it was 113/70! So even though they didn't give me a fill, they helped me get my health in order. :(

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
