Still Not Losing

Recommended Posts

Hi Y'all,

I was banded on July 1st, 08. I have had 2 fills and still have no restriction. My weight is constant with little or no movement on the scale:frown:. My last fill was 2 weeks ago, Sept 29th. My next appt is not until Nov 10th. Should I call my doctor and request another fill or wait it out and see if things change.

Thanks in advance.

It's hard to make a suggestion without knowing what else is going on. Are you following your surgeon's eating plan, eating Proteins first, staying away from "slider" foods, getting enough calories, exercising regularly?

I agree with MistyD65, what are you eating? Are you exercising? Are you snacking? Fills do part of the work, of course, but we have to do the rest. I've had one fill and no restriction and had gained 11 pounds back. After a nice chat with my surgeon I'm reinspired and have lost 6 of those pounds already since thursday. I'm doing what he said...proteins, then veggies, then fruits, finally grains, 64 oz of Water, no liquids 15 min before, during or 15 min after a meal, exercise, and NO SNACKING. I guess I was using "no restriction yet" as an excuse, but those days are OVER. I'm so happy to be losing again and I know by the time I am bored and tired of the diet, I will have restriction to help keep me going. Maybe that outlook will help you a little! :crying:

Mornings I drink a Protein shake or 1/2 cup oatmeal w/splenda

lunch is 1/2 cup tuna w/crackers, 1/2 cup edamame, 1/2 cup diced Tomato or a Weight Watchers smart one

dinner is 4 oz boneless chicken w/vegetables, or 4 oz broiled fish filet.

snack is 1/2 cup yogurt or cottage cheese or sometimes a skinny cow.

I do drink a cup of fat free milk.

I do drink coffee at work (black)

Still the scale will not move!!!

I keep my carbs low (under 15 gms a day) my fat low (under 15 gm a day) and push first and foremost Protein. I have Protein shake (17 gms Protein, 2 fat, 2 carb, 110 cal) for Breakfast. I often have a shake for lunch, and for dinner 3-5 oz of lean fish, turkey or chicken and some green veggies (no fat, nothing added). NO SNACKS! EVER! and no drinking 15 min before, during, or 15 min after my meals (the ones that aren't shakes, that is) I lose quite well doing that...keeping cals to about 800 a day. As I lose and am more active I'll add in more calories.

I suggest you talk with your nutritionist or dietitian to see what you can change to jumpstart weight loss.

Im not sure of course, but it doesnt look like you are getting enough calories, you dont want your metabolism to drop. Grab one or two Protein Snacks, a egg fried in pam or a FF hot dog, or something like that. I drop when I do a day of salmon. Im planning another one for next Tuesday. I have extra calories but its only fish for the rest of the day after Breakfast. It almost always jump starts my weight loss when I feel like Im stalling out.

Hi Y'all,

Thanks for all the replies. I have an appointment with my Doctor this coming Monday, 10/20. Maybe with another fill and sticking with my meal plans I will be a little more successful.

:)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
