Help!! I'm stuck!!

Recommended Posts

Hi, I have posted before, but this week I am stressed. The scales have not budged for almost two weeks. Had surgery on Aug. 18th. Lost about 14 pounds, but then we went to Disney on Sept. 14th to the 20th. Actually managed to lose another 4 and 1/2 pounds there, but since we have come back not a pound. Had first fill on Mon. but not much restriction. food did get get stuck for the first time today, but only lasted about 9 minutes then went away. What do you do when you're stuck??

You might want to post this in the Post-op Support or General Support section. Way more of the old-timers hang out there than in here.

Also, I recommend putting "Stall" somewhere in the title. That appears to the be WLS slang term for not losing weight when you are following all the rules.

I can tell you that scales lie. They lie like dogs. But I'm not that far out so I haven't had my first stall yet and so can't offer any practical advice for what to do.

have you been excerising? the reason why you lost the 4 and half pounds was prob because you were walking around everywhere and staying active i cant stress enough how much excerise is important. its about how you eat but at the same time its about you taking an active role in excerising. you dont have to do much just enough to get those muscles working a bit and burning fat.

Do you want this thread moved to the Post op Support or General support section?

I am not sure if you are asking what to do when food gets stuck, or what to do when you plateau?

I went on a very long plateau. I did not lose 2 lbs a week ever. I lost and then plateaued, then all of a sudden I would drop about 5 lbs and go on another long plateau.

There are a lot of people who are willing to help, but I don't think we are clear on what you are asking.

I'm sorry, I am new to this, how would I move the post to another area? Yes, I am asking what to do when it seems as though the scale isn't budging. It's just really frustrating to work really hard, and eat so little but the weight is not coming off. What I am getting is just keep on working and trying and it WILL come off. Just maybe not as fast as I would like. Is that correct?

If you are exercising, you might be replacing fat with muscle too. Have you taken your measurements to see if you are losing inches even if you aren't losing pounds.

I can take care of moving the thread for you. I am going to move it to the General Support forum. There are a lot of people who are slow losers and they can give you advice.

Things to watch out for are, are you eating a lot of carbs? do you track your calories and exericse?

The thread should be in general lap band support now.

Please feel free to ask anything. Most people who are having trouble losing log their food into sparkpeople.com or the daily plate, to count the calories. You should be eating mostly Protein and a little bit of veggies. If you are too tight, people tend to eat high calorie slider foods that go through the band easily, such as mashed potatoes.

Please tell us how much you're exercising and what a daily's menu looks like so we can get an idea of what 's going on.

you are not alone!!!! Some of us are experiencing the same.

If you are like me, maybe you just got a little too complacent and maybe cocky to think that you wont gain weight because of your operation....far from true as I am finding out the hard way........you still have to work hard! I got a self attitude adjustment recently....hopefully I can be strong and keep it in perspective as this new trip continues....

I tell you what is killing me....People tell already how much weight I have lost and how my body is shaping up thanks to the excersing I am doing and they all telling me how good I look. In all honesty I DONT WANT TO HEAR THAT!!!! because subconciously I am saying to myself, I look good now, maybe I can eat that extra piece of food in front of me and no one will notice....!!!!:)

Thanks for answering!! I think myself, and a LOT of others (from reading posts) thought this would be easy. They did NOT tell me how hard it would be during any meeting or seminar. BUT, I know it is worth it. I caught myself sneaking a bite of food that I really shouldn't have had. I felt like a little kid, trying not to get caught. But then I thought - who am I sneaking from? LOL EVERYONE is sooo supportive, but that still doesn't help the mind games!!

You haven't said whether you are eating a lot of carb foods. Carbs will definitely slow down the weight loss. What kinds of things do you eat for your main meals?

Hi, well today I had a bowl of oatmeal with half a cup of skim milk. One cup of Tomato Soup with 2 spoonfuls of tuna, then a little rice, with chicken breast and mushrooms. I also had one half cup of kool aid - I KNOW that's bad, and 8 cups of Water. I put this all on daily plate and it says 965 calories today. AND, I do the wii for 30 to 45 min four days a week. Am I still eating too much?? I also do a banana most days, I'm low in potassium.

It sounds pretty good but you could be sensitive to carbs. Banana's are high in carbs. Can you take a potassium supplement? You're getting carbs from the rice and the oatmeal.

Let's see what other people say.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
