3rd fill - Sliming water

Recommended Posts

I had my 3rd fill this past Thursday. I ate some FF chocolate pudding a few hours after my fill. NOT a good choice. Caused major pain and vomiting/sliming all night. Went to all Clear Liquids since, but now I can't even keep Water down unless it's HOT and only small amounts at a time stay down. After drinking something that just wont stay down, I spend hours sliming.

I'm holding off till Monday to call my doc hoping I am just swollen and this will subside.

If not, I will need ER surgery to fix the kink in my tubing since Fluid can go in, but not come out. ARGGGG!!!!

I was told just fluids for 24 hours post fill. If you were told the same, it's possible the pudding was too much too soon. Didn't you have to drink in your doc's office? If so, did it go down and stay down ok? If it did, you may just be agitated from the pudding. BUT you can't go too long w/out water; we dehydrate pretty quickly.

Hope things settled down for you. Sounds like you're really tight. How much as added to your band? What size band?

By the way, I see that you have lost 60 lbs. Awesome!

Yes, my doctor says liquids after a fill. pudding is not considered a solid. I suppose I should have specifically asked about the pudding before eating it (did not even eat half the container). This was my third fill. The 2 previous fills I did not need to follow the liquid diet. I was able to eat mushies the same day & soft solids the next.

I believe I had 3.5cc in my 10cc band and he put another 1cc in. So, a total of 4.5cc now.

He typically has me drink in his office before leaving, but this time that did not happen. On the drive home I felt a little bubble feeling in my throat & it sounded like a drain going down but it didn’t make me slime.

I am VERY happy with my loss and I love my band. I am really hoping this resolves on its own, so I don't have to deal with another surgery right now. My Dr. mentioned fixing the kink a year down the road.

Thanks for the good thoughts.

got some MAJOR RELIEF after seeing my doc today.

By maneuvering the port where the kink is, he was able to pull out .5cc's. It made a world of a difference for me. I was just FAR too tight. I am now drinking all liquids!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
