Impressed with CIGNA's coverage!

Recommended Posts

I have to say now that it has been over a month since my surgery....I am impressed with the coverage that CIGNA gives. We only paid $850 out of pocket for the entire surgery! Very impressive. My husband and I were planning on having to pay more, but it turned out very nice. Just wanted people to know that insurance comes through, even though we might have to wait forever!

Hmm...this is very interesting. I have CIGNA and they didn't pay a dime on my surgery.

Thanks for sharing this.

I have Cigna also. Our policy is through FedEx, where my husband works.

What I think happens is that Cigna goes to a big company like that with different choices. The company then buys either a "Lexus", a "Toyota", or a "Yugo." Presumably the more they spend the better your coverage.

So you and I may both have Cigna but you may have the Lexus while I got a Yugo.

And even within that, the employees have to select the plan they want every year from several they offer. Cost and coverage vary on those too.

Not an expert but that's my guess anyhow.

I am beginnin to think insurance doesnt even matter. I have Tricare prime and I am approved and it should only cost me a $30.00 copay however my sureon wants to charge me the difference from what insurance will pay and that is $4000.00 I dont have. I am so dissappointed he wasted my time. (2 months to be exact)

I am sorry to hear that. Does it have to do with what company is using CIGNA? :crying:

I'm sure it does. My DH pays $400/mo. to have me on the insurance so you would think I would have decent coverage. Oh well! Glad they paid for yours.

I'm so sorry to hear it when someone doesn't get insurance coverage!

I was feeling confident that my doctor's office would be right on top of things, until yesterday. I called my GP to see why they hadn't sent the letter of recommendation to my surgeon and it turned out they never received a request for it. They got all the test results, but that was it. The program director at the surgeon's had assured me she would send the results as well as a detailed letter of all the info needed. That is what my GP told me she needed. ARRRGGHHH!!! I called the program director and supposedly, she will take care of it today. We'll see what happens. Why am I so impatient? :Dancing_biggrin:

Sometimes you have to look at the company paying CIGNA to be their insurance provider. I know that I had to throw out the name of my husband's company (who our insurance is under) in order to get things rolling. I am not saying it was a walk in the park. I had to work for it and was ready to get my husband's employer involved if need be. Seems how it is really their money and not CIGNA's. We have always had good results with them....so I am thinking maybe it has to do MORE with my husband's employer, rather than just the insurance company!

Welcome to bandland!!! Enjoy the results!

I wish I didnt have to say this but,.....Cigna Sucks! They refuse to pay, now I have to complain to the labor union who is going to have a board meeting in November. Then and only then , if they decide that Cigna is denying me incorrectly then they could , I guess "coax" Cigna to pay. I started this process in February 2008. and after 6 months under a doctors care for my weight loss, and dealing with this uncomfortable weight problem, After the doctor sent a letter on recomendation, I meet the 40 BMI criteria, they still said NO! Now I have to apply for a home equity loan to pay for this procedure that so many other people have no problem getting covered. CiGNA!!!!!!! What a Sham! They are one of those companies who does anything that they could to NOT pay for things!!!! I highly DO NOT recommend CIGNA!! Im still not giving up but , my hopes are dashed with Cigna. THEY SUCK!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
