Jodi_620 37 Posted October 11, 2008 Why so much Water? I shoot for 64 oz. and I don't always get even that much in--yet my weight loss has been steady. How often and when do you weigh yourself?
momcof3 1 Posted October 11, 2008 My surgeon also said to strive for 64 oz of Water a day - which I meet most days and I have been losing.
maguirre67 0 Posted October 11, 2008 for some reason im bloating up and retaining Water when i lose ill lose 2 pounds and then wont lose for another 3 or 4 weeks

RestlessMonkey 7 Posted October 11, 2008 Water and fat are two different things, of course. But I think you're getting too much water. Shoot for 64 ounces and see how you do. And don't drink with your meals, or before or after, per your surgeon's directions. Water shouldn't make you retain water unless you have an issue with your heart or kidneys. SALT can make you retain water and more water will flush it. But rather than tinker with all that (it can get obsessive)....what diet are you on and when are you "allowed" to drink? RestlessMonkey 7 Posted October 11, 2008 And you know fills don't make us lose weight. Eating less and exercising make the weight go. Fills just make the "eating less" easier.
noosagirl 0 Posted October 11, 2008 I think it helps you lose body fat but I found this web site about Water, it will explain it to you a lot better. http://www.ultimatefatburner.com/articles/water.html

Jodi_620 37 Posted October 13, 2008 You know, I had the same issue in the beginning and I know that there was a thread on this at the time with others who had too. For the first month or so, I would get people commenting on my weight loss but I knew the scale hadn't been moving. At the time, I just decided that because they knew I had the surgery, they were just saying these things to encourage me. But then I noticed that my clothes were getting looser. I am not sure what it is that allows us to get smaller but not see any weight difference but I know that others have been through this too. Some suggested it was muscle gain, but I hadn't really started any exercises at the time so I know that at least for me, that was not the case.

It's almost as if we lose, then for a while the scale stagnates while our bodies tighten up and catch up, then the scale drops again. Weight loss is odd, but it's all good! :smile2:
