Why so much Water? I shoot for 64 oz. and I don't always get even that much in--yet my weight loss has been steady.

How often and when do you weigh yourself?

Water and fat are two different things, of course. But I think you're getting too much water. Shoot for 64 ounces and see how you do. And don't drink with your meals, or before or after, per your surgeon's directions. Water shouldn't make you retain water unless you have an issue with your heart or kidneys. SALT can make you retain water and more water will flush it. But rather than tinker with all that (it can get obsessive)....what diet are you on and when are you "allowed" to drink?

And you know fills don't make us lose weight. Eating less and exercising make the weight go. Fills just make the "eating less" easier.

You know, I had the same issue in the beginning and I know that there was a thread on this at the time with others who had too. For the first month or so, I would get people commenting on my weight loss but I knew the scale hadn't been moving. At the time, I just decided that because they knew I had the surgery, they were just saying these things to encourage me. But then I noticed that my clothes were getting looser. I am not sure what it is that allows us to get smaller but not see any weight difference but I know that others have been through this too. Some suggested it was muscle gain, but I hadn't really started any exercises at the time so I know that at least for me, that was not the case.

I agree Jodi. It's almost as if we lose, then for a while the scale stagnates while our bodies tighten up and catch up, then the scale drops again. Weight loss is odd, but it's all good! :smile2:

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
