speck 1 Posted October 11, 2008 (edited) I haven't felt so great after eating salmon last night. Just a little information for you. I am a month out. I am eating solids now. I've had talapia and tuna. Last night I had salmon and I used KC Masterpiece Honey Teriyaki sauce on top. I tried not to cook it to much but maybe I did. That and maybe didn't chew well enough. Well since then my chest hurts really bad between my breast and right above that area. I also feel like when I chew my Vitamins that they stay in my throat. It's been way over 24 hours so I'm just wondering what might be going on. No sliming or anything like that going on. Thoughts? TIA Edited October 11, 2008 by speck
Donna Makowski 0 Posted October 11, 2008 Sounds to me like you MAY be blocked....at least partially. I was banded 8-13-08 and was doing really well (nothing getting stuck) until this week. Like a DUMMY, I ate some beef and broccoli - didn't chew as well as I should have and felt nauseated soon afterward. That was about 4 PM on Tuesday. Started dry heaves about 8:30 Wednesday morning, and finally about 24 hours after I had eaten wrong, the culprit came up (after much uncomfortable wretching!!) - a piece of broccoli that looked like I hadn't even chewed it at all. I was scheduled to have my second fill on Thursday, but needless to say, the doc said "no way". I have been back on liquids since Thursday....and learned a very valuable lesson. If I had only NOT been so silly........old eating habits die hard.
vsnowrn 0 Posted October 11, 2008 Wow, That sounds painful, I am about 7 weeks post op and thankfully haven't had a episode like that one. I am learning to really chew my food. Veronica
HeatherO 7 Posted October 11, 2008 It is not unusual to get something stuck for 24 hours, it just happens very rarely. Hopefully you are back to normal quickly and feeling good. Some people suggest papaya enzymes or pineapple juice or even a little meat tenderizer in a tiny amount of Water to help break it up. In the mean time, it will be better and more comfortable for you to stay on liquids until it clears completely.
speck 1 Posted October 11, 2008 Good Early Morning. I appreciate the responses. This morning when I first woke up and was lying in bed, my chest felt better. However, upon getting up the old feeling came back. My chest still feels tight and slightly painful. Just enough to bother me. I'm going to do liquids today for sure. I'm just curious- will whatever it is eventually go down or come up. And again, no sliming or anything unusual like that.
Donna Makowski 0 Posted October 11, 2008 Up to this point, I had been doing great - guess I just got a little overconfident and forgot the mantra....chew, CHEW, CHEW!!!!! All is well now and on to mushies for a day or two....admittedly I'm a little gun-shy but by Monday, back to real food. This too shall pass!!!

Donna Makowski 0 Posted October 11, 2008 Ate wrong Tuesday afternoon and felt bad soon afterward. Threw up (or tried to) 4 times on Wednesday. By Thursday morning felt fine but sore and went on Clear Liquids. Full liquids yesterday. Mushies today. I already had a doctor's appt (for a fill) Thursday morning but when I told him what had happened, he said no fill....which was fine by me. He was the one that said back to liquids to let my stomach calm down after the wretching. Have you tried warm liquids? That helped me.
