Alterations? Worth it?

Recommended Posts

has anyone had their clothes altered? Is it worth it or just better to buy new?

I have a great pair of work pants and I know Ive dropped a size and dont want to donate them.Of course I still try to wear them despite the fact I look like I am wearing clown pants

HI

I had a few skirts altered and really wasn't happy the way they layed on me afterwards. I wore them since I didnt want to buy new ones, but I am not sure how much they were worth it when you realize how much good alterations cost.

Great for you - that you went down a size!!!

Isn't that great? I have the same problem. I have a ton of clothes that don't fit me and I have sorted through them to give the ones I don't want to Goodwill and then I have a bag for my Aunt of good things and then there are clothes I can't seem to part with. I think I am giong to seriously consider having them altered. I have one dress that I paid almost $300 for and I'm planning on having it altered. I would just buy some new pants. You can get such good deals at TJMaxx, Marshalls, etc. I kept several pair in the back of my closet for YEARS and now I fit into them so its like having a new wardrobe. Thanks for sharing. Let me know if you decided to alter the pants and how they came out.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
