Military Smashing Pumpkins?

Recommended Posts

Do we have any Smashing Pumpkins affiliated with the military? I'm a Marine Corp wife. By the way.....how the heck do I add the sparklee or ticker to my threads? I think this liquid diet has affected my brain. :wink2:

Thanks a bunch Smashing Pumpkins.

Air Force Wife Here! My Husband is deployed right now. He will be back in late January. Only 120 day deployment for Air force. Thank you God. I really feel for the other service branches and their families.

To get the glittery thing. Click on someone else's glittery tag...like Mine! And it will take you to the web-site to make it. Then you copy and paste the BB code option into your signature, under the User CP options.

Let me know if you need more help!

Hi, i'm an Air Force wife. My husband is preparing for his first deployment. We've been in for 8 years. Anyhow, I will be banded on the 23rd. He leaves early December. I'm nervous about my transformation and his thoughts when he gets back. He is very supportive of my doing this so I hope and pray that he will be happy with the results.

My husband has deployed 6 times and although it's never easy ~ the first time seems to be the toughest. If you can handle deployments, you'll certainly be able to handle "less" of you when he returns. How exciting!

My husband is preparing for his first deployment. We've been in for 8 years.

Sort of the same boat here. We have been in 6 years and never deployed. He did get a deployment order right after I got pregnant, and a guy in his office volunteered to take his place. That was to Iraq.

Then this time, his 1st shirt, asked him what number round he was, because he was probably going to get picked and sent to Iraq. So, he told him to go volunteer for Kygerstan. Which he did! It's a lot safer. They have an actual AFB, with dorms, bx, gym, bar, Internet cafe, and they can even leave the base with groups and a Msgt. or higher.

The best part or at least he thought so. Was he got 4 new uniforms, 2 pairs of boots, and a full set of Gortex Winter gear. He said he has the best skiing outfit he has ever own! :)

My two sons are in the Army (Ft. Stewart and Ft. Lewis). The older one came back from Kuwait in May and it was such a HUGE relief to me! The #2 son is married and expecting a baby in April. He has had some colon issues and may end up with major surgery...or nothing. He will deploy next August they say.

Anne, I'll keep your DIL in my prayers. I have twins or should say two babes from a set of triplets. I miscarried the triplet in the beginning of my 2nd trimester. They came 12 wks early and although in was a very long haul they are here ~ walking and talking. They will turn 2 on Thanksgiving. Birth weight was 1.2 lbs and 1.14 lbs. Faith will carry you through. If you'd like to send me your DIL's name, I'll pray for her and your grandchild.

Oh SeaSide--that is so sweet. I would LOVE for you to pray for her (and him) and the baby! Her name is Ellen and his is Phillip and she MAY end up delivering early as she has a bicornate uterus. We are praying for a healthy term baby!

Congrats on your twins--how fun--but so much work! My boys were 15 months apart and my girls were 17 months apart...not quite the same but still two babies at once--twice! I have twin nephews and they are still a handful at seven. That is so wonderful that they were so small but doing so well!

If anyone would want to PM me any names of deployed military who need support, I would be happy to send a card or care package. I routinely do from a military support yahoo group that I am part of.

God bless our military and our country!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
