Joined Curves Gym (so proud)

Recommended Posts

This week I reach the mid-way point - half way to goal at exactly 6 months post surgery. Not as fast as some, but I always knew my insulin issues would slow me down a bit. Still, I'm happy with anything being gone forever.

I made the decision to join Curves Gym. I figured I need to formalise and increase my exercise now to get me through the next half. I was exercising before, but probably not often or hard enough. Curves seems pretty fun, and I was surprised how well I managed to get around the circuit. Certainly no need to be uncomfortable there - no glamour girls in tight pink lycra to be seen (that always turned me off other gyms). Just normal women, in all shapes and sizes. The program is 30 minutes - I am committing to go at least 4 times a week.

Well done. I chose to go swimming Mon-Fri with my hubby, he keeps me motivated. We go first thing in the morning at the pool for 5:30am he wakes me up with a cup of tea to make sure that I get up lol...

Right now its a $30 joining fee (normally $199), and $59 a month. The thing I like about is that there is a staff member there to help you all the time to make sure your technique if right. Even if you are not in the mood, 30 minutes is short enough to suck it up. I'm enjoying it (so far :->)

Congrats! I also joined curves this past week. I needed structure and getting weighed and measured each month is pretty cool. The cost here in Connecticut was $99 registration regularly $199 and then $39 a month..

I was keen on joining curves, but i found out they don't have a creche for my son to go to, otherwise I would have loved to join, it seems like a great place. Hope you guys do well:thumbup:

I joined a gym recently where they also have a pool, I enjoy swimming, and also doing body pump classes:thumbs_up:

I joined curves last year. It was Ok, but I got quickly bored with the circuit - same way all the time and the reverse on Tuesdays. I also realised there wasn't really anywhere to go with it. I love doing weight training and that's just out with curves.

If it works for you, that's fantastic. I hope you get everything out of it you want.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
