Any December '08 Bandsters?

Steve007, Just for that day. If things go smoothly, you can go back thru the food stages quickly.it is all based on how well you do. It is only after the fill- they want to be sure it isn't too tight.

Wasn't thrilled with Clear Liquids either but I can handle it for part of a day.

BTW, here in the US, they discourage any carbonated drinks, including beer.:tongue2: But I think American beer is more fizzy than British lager and ale.

Steve007, The area is still tender and the opening is smaller than before, even w/o any fills. For me, Pasta and anything stringy or sticky seems to get stuck then i get the PB, Sliming, and Vomit  Have been cutting up/pureeing items that might be stringy or sticky (even sauerkraut is cut up). :tongue2: This is only a phase; it will get better. Can eat ground beef in sauce, ham, chicken and tuna, even chopped pickles (but gotta watch size and sticky, stringy stuff for now.) cheese seems to be the exception.

NH Amy, I too have had the heartburn sensation,. It means you are very full and have to stop or risk sliming and Vomitting.:tongue2: It may take some close attention but there is a sensation prior to this , when you feel full. you need to pay attention to that and stop. Be careful, you don't want to stretch the pouch by eating too much.

I'm into the soft food stage but have kind of alternated with a soft food and a pureed/liquid consistency, like a stew with ground beef and cooked/pureed veggies, or finely chopped pickles, cut up ham.

Steve007, most of it (30#) was on the pre op diet. So haven't lost much since. Maybe with the fill ...

Hi All, My date is Jan 20th, I got bumped from Dec 30th so I still feel like a Dec Bandster :tongue2: I have a silly question and not sure I really want to know... but what is sliming? Obviously I know what PB and vomiting is, but not sure on that term.

I had my follow up yesterday, surgery was on the 17th. I was on soft foods since surgery, but have been given the ok to eat whatever I want except raw foods. Told to take it easy on some other things. I've lost 16 pounds since surgery and 34 overall. Most important, to me, I was given permission to get in the hot tub again! Had a great soak last night. Oh, yea, first still scheduled for 2/20

Wow Bill! You're doing fantastic! Congratulations!

I was banded on the 16th. Still on mushies until the 12th, but I'm able to do eggs, chicken and the like, as long as it's pureed. Looking forward to more solid food, but for now I'm fine with what I'm doing.

Just wanted to give you kudos and keep up the great work!

ChuckandVicki,

Sliming :) as it was explained to me and as i experienced is mucousy liquid you will regurgitate if you have trouble consuming something. (i.e. too big an amt, too fibrous, too sticky, too advanced for your diet). Had it once, would rather not have it again. You are in discomfort - It doesn't go to your stomach through the smaller opening. The body will create mucous to try to dislodge it. If that fails, it comes up. if the food is still lodged- it comes up also- :)

It isn't the gut wrenching stomach flu vomit experience, but stiill smells and Still no fun. If done often/intensely, can dislodge the band-

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
