Any December '08 Bandsters?

Recommended Posts

Received my date Dec. 16. Started pre op diet Tues, but fell short tonight about 6pm. Had to have a cup of Tomato Soup a 5 crackers. Felt guilty, and remorseful, but I was really ill and tired. Got my second wind now and really excited about the date. I know it will be here before I know it.:tongue2:

Hi jbyrd...looks like you and I have a couple things in common! My surgery is also on the 16th and we weigh within a couple pounds of each other with a very similar goal. Just wanted to wish you best of luck!

I got my date last week - December 17th! I can't wait. I got all of my pre-admission testing done today along with the pre-op classes. I meet with the doctor on 16th. I know it's going to be work, but I know it will be worth it. I love reading the posts - they are all positive and it's great to see how well everyone is doing.

Candy...congratulations on getting your date! It's a pretty incredible feeling to know that it's actually going to happen! I just did my pre-op yesterday and my pre-admission work today. I'm banded the day before you...I'll look back a few days after and hope to see you're doing well with it!

Hi everyone!

I'm having my procedure tomorrow. I thought I would be nervous tonight but I'm not. I'm scheduled to be there at 9:00 a.m. I know that everything will go well but if you could remember me in your prayers I would be so grateful. I promise to come back tomorrow and tell you all about my experience. I've learned so much from all of you since I started reading your post.

urbangrl...best of luck to you tomorrow! I just said a prayer for you and will look forward to reading about how you are doing in the next few days.

Had my surgery on the 2nd and healing well. The body is truly amazing in it's constant efforts to return to health! My cuts no longer hurt but nausea is still a problem. I'm learning that at this point nausea may mean hunger. I go for a Protein drink and it helps with the nausea. No real hunger though!! I haven't had solids since Monday and I feel constantly full!! I feel full after a one sugar free jello! it's great.

A few things to remember:

Bring Warm slip on Slippers, (I used them while being taken to the hosp. door in the wheel chair and on the car ride)

Chap Stick - used before and after surgery to help with dry lips!

Bring your own favorite pillow with a favorite pillow case. I used a pillow case i used to use as a kid. When I returned from surgery the sweet nurse had it laying neatly on my head of my bed. It was comforting. Remember to take it when you leave....it will feel like a Teddy Bear in the wheel chair.

Bring warm blanket for car ride home.

Purchase or have a heating pad waiting by bed when you get home. I needed it.

Have fresh Water bottles by night stand when you get home. You will need to drink a few oz of Water every 20 mins.

Don't forget to leave your jewlry home :rolleyes:I forgot to take my rings off and had to trust DH with them under that kind of stress!

When you get home sleep as much as you can and walk around also when you can.

Accept hugs when offered:girl_hug:

All, The warm Socks/slippers are helpful. i didn't think of it but the hospital provided me with large slipper-socks. very warm Wore them thru surgery, too! Their idea! Handy since the operating room is cool. A pillow to use on the ride home helps too. I didn't have one and was OK; but only had a few miles to go. You will want it over your tummy and under the seat belt. Slept a lot the day I got home but have been up 12-15 hours each day since with a few rest periods thrown in. Just standing is harder than walking. Am mostly off the pain meds and must take out the "pain ball" today ( It is a small ball with tubing inserted into your tummy. It infuses a Novocaine related drug into the area around the port for pain) . Really helpful- I get to take it out myself ....:tongue2:

I got those good socks too and never used my slippers. I didn't get a pain ball and never took any pain meds after midnight the night of my surgery (12/2)...I used the morphine pump pretty regularly before then though... I never had any nausea, so never got the prescriptions filled. I'm feeling better every day..no problems with stairs or walking. Sitting is my most uncomfortable position...or moving from the bed to standing. Good luck to you folks anticipating surgery...I'm one to say it just hasn't been as hard as I expected!

That sounds like a good idea. I have been waiting so long I don't think anything will tempt me.

I was told during our "Boot Camp" one week prior to surgery that we are not allowed to fly for at least 6 weeks. I asked not about flying but because my surgery is scheduled on dec 11th and I'm flying to LA on jan 28th for a superbowl cruise to mexico and I wanted to know how to get around drinking and food on a party ship. The instructor then calculated my surgery date and suggested to check with my surgeon because my first fill date would probably conflict and flying isn't suggested until at least 4-6 weeks post op

I do not have a surgery date yet, but am approved by Aetna & have doctor 3 hour visit next Tuesday, 12/9. Should get surgery date then and have been told still possible to have surgery this month. Looking for specifics on post surgery diet for 2-3 weeks.

Was banded 12/2/08 in Monterey, Mexico. Flew back home to Texas on 12/4. Had absolutely no problems, in fact walking through the airports helped relieve the gas issues. Good luck!

I am aself pay and my dr does not have a problem with me flying home. He said as long it was not overseas or anything then it was fine. He also wants to see me at 4 wks for checkup and fill. He said even if you did a long over seas flight then you get up and move every hour so you do not get a clot.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
