40IsMyNew20 0 Posted December 3, 2008 Hi! Like Pete, my surgery is on Friday (dec 5). I've been on an opti-fast liquid pre-op diet for nearly two weeks now and have lost 19.4 lbs. I'm really thrilled about that. I was given a strict diet of 3 shakes a day, plus up to 2 cups of raw or cooked veggies per day plus SF gum and lots of Water (crystal light). I ate the veggies for the first 8 days, but then I had a bout of heartburn (at least I thought it was heartburn. I've never had it before, but I didn't like it). So I gave up eating anything after day 8. But not a single cheat, not a bite of food in 13 days. If I had known I had that kind of willpower before, maybe I wouldn't have ever gotten myself into this situation! Well, now nearly 20 lbs down before surgery, I'm well on my way to my goal, which is looking fab and feeling even better than that on my 40th birthday in Aug/09. I hope all you December bandsters do well and feel good and find great success! AJ
LB323 0 Posted December 3, 2008 I was banded yesterday and would agree to drink as much Water as possible the night before, it also helps with the IV to not be too dehydrated. I took some lip balm with me to the hospital that helped me keep my lips moist. I can't think of anything else I did above what my Dr told me. I did follow my pre-op diet and am told that's why I'm doing so well post-op.

trina4ufl 0 Posted December 4, 2008 First, thanks so much for all the support!! I really appreciate it! I actually feel great today. I walked a ton and went shopping with my mom. I got tired but I think that's because I've really ingested very few calories and almost no Protein on this clear liquid diet. I'm up to full liquids as of this evening and ate oatmeal with no issues. Walking definitely helps tremendously. I ate my chewable Multivitamins, am weaning myself off the pain meds, and feel actually pretty normal. I can't feel the port and I dont feel weird when eating/drinking. I also have no hunger, though I'm told that doesn't last. I'm down 15 pounds from when I started the pre-op diet. I had a pretty busy day shopping and talking on the phone with friends and family and am A okay. Thanks for all the support! Good luck to everyone else being banded this week! You'll do great!:cursing:

I will be on the pre-op diet through Christmas, but Oh well! You have to start sometime. We are getting banded on the same day. I'm just not going back home for x-mas. Way too much temptation there.... I'll be going crazy smelling all that home cooked food. NanyC 0 Posted December 5, 2008 I got my date last week - December 17th! I can't wait. I got all of my pre-admission testing done today along with the pre-op classes. I meet with the doctor on 16th. I know it's going to be work, but I know it will be worth it. I love reading the posts - they are all positive and it's great to see how well everyone is doing. urbangrl 0 Posted December 5, 2008 Hi everyone! I'm having my procedure tomorrow. I thought I would be nervous tonight but I'm not. I'm scheduled to be there at 9:00 a.m. I know that everything will go well but if you could remember me in your prayers I would be so grateful. I promise to come back tomorrow and tell you all about my experience. I've learned so much from all of you since I started reading your post.

jbyrd 0 Posted December 5, 2008 Received my date Dec. 16. Started pre op diet Tues, but fell short tonight about 6pm. Had to have a cup of Tomato Soup a 5 crackers. Felt guilty, and remorseful, but I was really ill and tired. Got my second wind now and really excited about the date. I know it will be here before I know it.:tongue2:
