I lost about 60 pounds now and I have tried to get off another 10 pounds with no luck. At what stage did you hit a big plateau and have some trouble getting off the pounds? Looks like I am stuck in one now...

:D

You are at the normal stage. Just change up your eating habbits and change up your exercise. I've noticed that if you get too routine, your body gets used to it and it is normal for you to survive that way. Just throw some other stuff into your work out.

Don't get discouraged because that will put you in the wrong direction. Just make it be insentive to try even harder.

good luck!

I have been at the same weight for 6 weeks. My last fill was July and I have one scheduled for this Friday. For me, I think that will be the fix. I waited too long between fills. I think I had it in my mind that once I reached my sweet spot, which I feel like I was there at one point, I thought that would be it, but it's always changing and I realized I need another fill. I can eat about 2 cups of food right now and I'm supposed to be eating 1/2 cup.

Could you be needing a fill as well?

I also agree about mixing up your eating and exercise. I am trying to do that very thing also.

Don't give up!

I had a 4 month plateau. It SUCKED, but I never got discouraged. You'll pass through it. I found that my body doesn't lose in a steady decline. I lose in stair steps. So I just accept it and go on. I guess mine was around the 50 pound range. It took me FOREVER to finally fall under 200 pounds. Now I'm losing again and doing great. Don't give up.

I think our bodies all reach a "natural" plateau. A place where your body is comfortable and just gets stubborn; wants to hold on.

Mine is now. I've been stuck between 214-220 pounds seems like FOREVER now. Three months. I'm a see-saw myself; up and down. I wish I could break below 214! I think some bad decisions on my part have lead to my plateau. I wish I could say I'm like Aubrie and didn't get discouraged. We just have to pick ourselves back up, dust off and keep trying.

I've been stuck at 60lbs for two months now. It's driving me crazy!! Then I see your post, find out you're stuck at exactly 60lbs, AND you stole my signature! HAHAHA I thought it was my own post for a second, even went though my mind to see if I had posted it and forgot. HAHAH

I have no idea why we are stuck...looks like it's a common thing tho. No need to fear!!

Keep up the good work!! :D

Like I said, you drop the weight in the beginning because its different. Once your body gets used to the new thing you are doing, you have to change it. Ultimately, it means working out more. Its the same way alcoholics build a tolerance to alcohol. You have to drink more and more to get drunk. You have to work out more and more to keep your body burning fat.

Does that make sense?

Thank you all for the replies! I guess plateaus at 60 pounds are common. I have stepped up on the exercise and changed my diet around too. Maybe this will jump start it again! It needs to start moving soon...the holidays are coming :wink2: If my body wants to be stubborn it should wait until after I get under 200...grr:cursing: LOL

Thanks again:cool2:

i have lost thirty pound but for the last two weeks its been a struggle at the scales. I need to work out more this I know. I dont know if its because i am on my period now, ( had bloating since about a week and half ago) blah... I noticed last weekend my breath got really gross and i dropped 3 pounds in that weekend.. however im still teetering back and forth now between 243 and 244 this week. with only like a half pound lost. I think if I kick up my workout that will help out as ive only walked a couple times last week...

I'm like Aubrie, I would not lose for weeks, then have a drastic weight loss. The thing that is really weird to me as well is people notice before the scale shows a loss. People would ask me if I'd lost more weight; the scale would say the same it had been saying for weeks, then BOOM, I would drop ~ 8 lbs.

Our bodies are weird things. Go figure.

My plateau is now as well. I think 99% of us experience them. Some are for weeks at a time and others are for months at a time. Lately the last 2 months I will go 3 weeks without losing then dump 3 pound then nothing again for 3 weeks. It's something I wish it were more but if thats how my body wants to do it then thats whats going to happen. I have perfect restriction and I usually make good choices. For now I will just keep doing what I am doing and hope that I wake up lighter one of these days hehe.

My plateau was around 200 pounds which would have been 67 pounds. I never increased my exercise, I just changed it. I went from walking 2 miles on the treadmill to walking the same 2 miles but increasing the speed and the elevation every 2 minutes.

So then the other 2 minutes I would go back to normal. This worked for me during my first plateau. So if your a walker maybe you could try it also. I know that I find it hard to increase the minutes I exercise, since there is only so many in a day. And we are all so busy, that this may be worth a try. Good Luck. and let me know if you try it and if it works for you.

I'm stuck at 60lbs also! What is it with that number???? I will try the suggestions given by others, but it's comforting to know it's not just me! I really wanted to be down atleast 80lbs by this time. My one year Bandiversary was 10/01/08..Oh well, i've never lost 60lbs in my life, and I haven't been under 100lbs in over 13 years (I'm at 198) so I'm still thankful! I'm gonna work hard to lose the next 30lbs. I think I just got comfortable!

thenume....Congratulations on ONEderland!! It's great isn't it. I like you had a certain number in my head for my one year bandiversery and two year bandiversery. I seemed to fall short both times. But when the scale is going in the right direction it doesn't seem to disappointing. Like you, I have never lost this much in my life. Life is good. Congratulations again, and good luck with the next 30

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
