What are you doing right??

Recommended Posts

This thread came from another board by a friend of mine and I felt it was such a great thread I wanted to start it over here

So many of us focus on what we are doing wrong...how about focusing on what we are doing right

For me it is :

1. Eating better healthier foods.

2. Eating smaller portions.

3. Not drinking with my meals and waiting 1 hour after a meal to drink

4. I do not drink liquid calories.

5. I call my Dr. at the first sign of something NOT right.

6. I do not take NSAID's or drink carbonation

7. I eat for 20 minutes only!

8. I take small bites and chew chew chew

9. I drink atleast 100 oz of Water a day.

10. I eat atleast 60 grams of Protein a day and eat my Proteins first, then veggies & fruits.

Also instead of focusing on the scale and what the numbers are, how about focusing on all of the great things that have changed for the better in your life since being banded.

1. More energy

2. Doing more things with my children & husband.

3. Smaller size clothing.

4. More social with my friends, customers & co-workers

5. Need less sleep

6. Feeling better about myself then I have in years.

7. No more lower back pain or knee pain.

8. Healthier looking skin, nails & hair.

9. Take time for me ( pedicures/ Manicures/ Hair)

10. Not shopping in the plus size department NO longer!

Since being banded I have not eaten bread, Pasta, rice, or pizza. In addition I no longer drink cokes or beer. I have given up a lot of the foods I thought I could never live without and I am loving it! I also really crave Water I never thought I would do that.

Hmm, let me think.

I eat way less food.

When I do eat, I do so in a conscious manner.

I eat very slowly instead of inhaling my food.< /p>

No carbonated drinks for me.

No drinking with meals or immediately after meals.

Very rarely do I eat between meals (I know if I do that, I won't be able to fit my meal in).

Exercise every day.

I make considered food decisions about what I am going to eat and what will be good for me.

You got me at a bad moment, La_Madam. Right now I'm not doing ANYTHING right. :)

Generally, the achievements I can point to consistently are:

-Eating Protein first.

-No carbonation.

-Chewing.

-Exercising at least a couple of times a week.

The areas I'm not doing well with at the moment are:

-Staying away from liquid treats

-Avoiding sweets

-Eating SLOWLY

-Eating later in the evening

Gotta work on these. :)

Good Post Michelle!

1.) Eating Protein/Solids first (then veggies/fruits etc)

2.) Eating smaller portions

3.) Chewing my food

4.) Gettin my Water in

5.) No drinking during or an hour after meals

6.) I don't do liquid calories (other than occassionally a glass of wine)

7.) I don't take nsaids

8.) I don't do carbonated beverages

9.) I take my Vitamins every day!

10.) I exercise everyday

11.) I have follow-up visits with my doctor every 6 weeks

12.) I read this support board daily (well, lots daily)

13.) I don't do fast foods anymore

I am much more confident now, I enjoy parties and friends more, I don't look to see if I am the heaviest person in the room, I can sit on anything now w/o the fear of breaking it, I have more energy, I wear smaller clothes, I have less aches and pains, I can tolerate the Texas heat more, I can climb stairs w/o feeling like I am going to pass out, I am a happier person, and people are always complimenting me on my weight loss. I can do things that don't focus around food, and I can actually go shopping and not think I need to stop and get something to hold me over! I don't run every time someone comes out with the camera anymore. I look people in the eyes now instead of looking at the ground. I smile a lot now too!

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
