Sticking To Diet, Kind Of??

Recommended Posts

I am almost 2 weeks post op. Everything is going great except I think I might be eating too much. I am eating only what is allowed on my diet (what they call ploppy food) but I am eating more of it than I should be. So far today I had a pack of oatmeal really watered down for Breakfast, one of the pre-packaged sf Jello, one pre-packaged smooth applesauce, 26 ounces of Water. It is now almost 2:00 and one cup of Decaf hot tea. This is stupid but I just didn't pay attention to the amount I was eating. Just making sure what I am eating is on my list. But now I am afraid I might stretch my pouch. Do you think I did? I am going to measure how much a pre-packaged sf jello actually is but I think it is more than the 1/4 cup I should have had. I know the oatmeal is because of how watery I made it. I feel so stupid.

I think you're doing fine, I am also almost two weeks out and I feel like sometimes I am eating tons. But if you're like me you haven't had a fill yet and so the restriction is minimal and the thinner foods that we are eating are going straight through and are not hanging out in the pouch. But that is what is supposed to happen, the time between the surgery and your first fill is a healing time and a time for your body to get used to the foreign object that was placed in you. Initially your stomach was probably inflamed from the band which made you less hungry and satisfied quicker. But now that you are healing it will almost be like you never had the band, I get hungry every few hours even after having a Slimfast, pudding, yogurt and broth (that was my lunch yesterday)! You are doing great! Good luck!:)

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
