Morning tightness

Recommended Posts

I've heard a few people mention they are tighter in the morning. Man am I noticing this is true. I can't hardly get my very tiny blood pressure pill down. I am able to VERY slowly get down a Protein Drink (much slower than in the afternoon).

Do you all have any "tricks" to deal with this or is it just a fact of banding?

I think someone once mentioned drinking a warm beverage to loosen up a little? True?

Hi Karen. My doc told me that it doesn't matter what time of day I take it, as long as it's around the same time each day. I can usually get pills down by 11:00 a.m. or so. When I was TOO tight, I had to get a different one that could be crushed. Is yours coated? If not coated, it can be crushed. But I would try the 11 - 12:00 first.

Good idea Karen. No, it's not coated. I already cut the tab in half so I would think crushing wouldn't be a problem.

Thanks for the tip!!

Being tight can bring about major frustration. I am ALWAYS tight during the week before my period. It is acutally my first sign that I'm about to start. I don't loosen up until the 4th or 5th day after I start.

Yes, a warm liquid makes things better. I often order a cup of hot tea before my meal when I eat out. If I get stuck in the first two or three bites of my meal, I will sip on warm Water until it moves, then I take SUPER tiny bites during the rest of my meal.

I always have something warm to drink in the morning. And, I'm usually up for at least an hour before I eat my Breakfast. So, the warm drink helps.

Hugs,

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
