Hello All: This site has been fantastic. I will be six weeks out tomorrow. I go for my first fill next Monday. The last couple of days it seems like there is something stuck in my throat. I have no problems eatings (no pain/no feeling sick). It has happened at various times during the past couple of days (Before eating/after eating). Today it was first thing in the morning and I feel like I have to keep clearing my throat. It is that TOM for me and I notice my rings are tighers (sorry guys!) and also I've noticed a little more stuffyness from sinuses. Has anyone else noticed this! It's driving me crazy. Any info would be great! Thanks!! Dee

Good morning. I find that I really need that first cup of coffee to "warm me up" and get things lubricated and loose in the morning. I can't tolerate anything cold at first. Also, it takes about an hour after the coffee before I can eat anything, and that must be soft and smooth - usually a Greek yogurt. It takes a few hours before I can really eat something substantial. So, I find that lunch is my biggest meal. It also takes a really long time to learn how to chew your food correctly. I still don't get it right, and find myself getting stuck about every other day now. It was every day for a few weeks. I am 3 months post-op and have had 2 fills. I find that crunchy things help me to chew softer foods better. An example would be 1/2 a pita chip with some tuna, chicken, meatloaf, etc. Otherwise, I need to douse everything in some kind of liquid - salad dressing, hummus (I know, not really a liquid but it helps) ketchup, just to get it to go down smoothly. I read somewhere to take a piece of melon between bites to keep things moving.

Hope this helps.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
