How can one tell if they have stretched their pouch and if they have, what happens, how do they unstretch it? Ok the way I ask that sounds stupid but I have had a long day and I'm really tired here so just bare with me. lol I guess what I meant was, if you stretch your pouch, do you have to have another surgery to get it back to where it is suppose to be?

Last time I went in for a adjustment my dr told me that I had stretched my pouch a little bit. All he said I had to do was to stop overeating. That is what stretched my pouch, so no I didn't have to have another surgery. Have u had any adjustments yet? I hope this helps.

i just found out during my last appointment that my stoma has stretched...

i was banded in april, 1st fill in may and 2nd fill in june. after my 2nd fill i knew i was too tight but i had hoped it would loosen up. i either had to eat a VERY tiny amount of food or i'd PB. i let this go on for 2 months. i PB'd more than i actually kept food down.

i told the nurse during my september appointment and so we looked at things under flouro. sure enough i was WAY TOO tight. the food was sitting in the stoma for so long and only trickling thru the band that i stretched my pouch.

i got a slight unfill and have to wait 2 months before i can get another fill and to see that hopefully the stoma went back to normal.

here is a picture i got after i got the slight unfill... click on the picture to enlarge it... you can see my stretched stoma.

A big thank you for showing the picture, I have been wondering if I had stretched my pouch. I haven't PB alot maybe 7 times since my last fill 5 weeks ago. But I do think at times I can eat to much. I asked at the last support group if they could tell under flouro and didn't really get a reponse. All they really said that was that if you are eating more than 1 cup of food you are stretching the pouch. I am really trying to watch how much I eat. Thank you so much for sharing..

Hey Kay,

Yes, I have had 2 fills already and I go tomorrow (Tuesday) for my 3rd fill. I have a 9cc band and I already have 5cc in it. I have probably stretched my pouch, but from what I read below, I am assuming that if I start eating normally (3 to 4 ounces) that it will shrink back down. Don't get me wrong I don't gorge myself when I eat, but I slightly go over the 4 ounces my diet call for because I don't feel it is enough for me. I just hope I haven't messed things up with the band.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
