Hey All, I received my band on 9-29-08, it will be a week tomorrow. I am still bloated or I still have swallowing. and still some pain and gas. Is this normal ????? How long before I start to feel good again. I also noticed that I have the most swelling in the front of my stomach where the largest incision is.. Anyone else have this swelling in that area(near the navel)... Help:ohmy: Also how long did you all take your meds???????

gigim... I had my surgery on Oct 1st and am still having pain.. Some people take longer to heal the others.. my left side is still a little more swollen as well, but I am ure it will be for a while considering that is where three of the five incisions took place and where the biggest one is..I was told it could take up to 2 weeks to recover and feel some what normal but honestly it could take the full 6 weeks to recover... Dont give up hope yet.. You will feel better soon.. That is what keeps me going.. I am still taking pain meds, but only once max twice a day.. wish you well and be easy on yourself..

I too was banded on 09/29 and am still having pain .

Don't get discouraged. Healing takes time.

I have been taking the liquid Lortab up until this am.

I am trying to get by on just the tylenol from today on as I have to drive this week. If it weren't for that I would still be on the Lortab!

Take it easy and hang in there!

Hi gigim.... I was banded 9-22 so tommorow will be two weeks. I feel great. Don't rush yourself..in the past three days i have really started to feel back to normal. everyone is different but i bet in a few more days you will improve greatly!! Hang in there! Oh.. I couldn't stand the taste of the lortab so i only took it once and then tylenol managed my pain pretty good. Let us know how your doing in a couple days!!

I too, was banded on 9/29 and still uncomfortable. :tt2: I'm having more pain in my chest than anywhere else. I even had to call the Dr. today. I took my pain meds until they were gone. Now I've just been alternating tylenol and motrin. I feel like I should be doing so much better by now but everyone is different. I'm getting frustrated as well but all we can do is take it one day at a time.:smile:

I also was banded the 29th and felt a bit better today. I took one trip out of the house and was pooped. I stopped taking my pain meds 2 days ago as I didnt think that I needed them any longer. Although tonight it may not be a bad idea since I already cant sleep and go back to work tommorrow.

I still have the gas pains in my shoulder and it is getting on my last nerve. I am hoping that by being up and around and also sitting up straight in a chair it'll help

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
