Awesome site! Hi from San Antonio

Hey everyone this site is VERY! Helpful! I hope I am not "rejected" I am not a bandster but My Boyfriend is... I went with him for his 3rd fill/adjustment on Friday and I had so much fun talking to all the ladies in the office and hearing about the things that they all have in common. Which was a huge help because there are alot of different things that I find weird or even scary that he does that they all said were perfectly normal!

Like when he eats he will sometimes jump up out of his seat and stretch or take a deep breathe... it would scare me at first and they all laughed and were like ohh yea that happens one lady said she would hold a chair and lean to the side...

I have questions and worry alot about his health and well being with the surgury so I hope to make some friends and learn about the lifestyle. That I honestly sometimes feel like an "outsider!"

Hi. First of all, let me say how lucky your boyfriend is. You sound like you are a great support system for him. You being involved in his post-op care is helpful to him, and to you as well. I suppose there are a lot of weird things that we do once we get banded. He will get used to them and you will too. I'm sure it was comforting to hear that he is not the only one doing these things. Because you are so helpful and so involved, you are NOT an outsider - you are one of us. Take care of him and tell him Becky said for him to take good care of you too.

hi, welcome to LBT!

i agree, your BF is very lucky to have someone to support him!

if you have any questions, ask away!! :)

the jumping up, yeah... i have to do that sometimes... i usually just have to sit and stretch my upper body really well - bring my arms up high and keep them there for a little bit.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
