What won't you miss?

Recommended Posts

I saw this in another thread a while back and thought it was hilarious and had some great ideas.

So, what won't you miss when you lose the weight?

My list includes:

* Shopping at only Lane Bryant

* My knees hurting

* Asking for a seatbelt extender on a plane

* Wearing an all black swimsuit with a skirt on it to try to hide as much as possible

* Avoiding sleeveless shirts

* Being tired at about 2 pm on an all-day family outing

Any other ideas?

I read a thread like this a while back too and think it is awesome. There is so much that I won't miss.

A few things on my list are:

*Not being able to tie my shoes without a struggle

*Not wearing cute shoes due to a lack of wide width

*Hiding from cameras (I swear they add 20lbs)

*Not riding roller coasters with my kids and hubby (fear of restraints not holding)

Just to name a few :tt2:

*Thighs rubbing together

*Trying to heave myself out of the couch

*Not being able to walk into ANY store and find my size (boutique's, tourist shops, etc.)

*Skirted swimsuits

*When at a dinner at church (or wherever) looking at the space between backs of chairs and wondering if I can get through without bumping into someone or having to have someone get up to move their chair

*When at said dinner, being the one whose chair sticks so far out into the walkway that people can't get through easily

*Always feeling so smooshed up and things popping out (stomach!) when sitting

Hmmm, I will not miss

Shopping at Lane Bryant

Not being able to ride my horse

Not being able to paint my own toe nails

Not being able to fit into booths at restaurants

Wondering if the plane seat belt will fit

What I won't miss:

*Hating going shopping for clothes for myself

*Sweltering by the side of the pool while the kids swim because there is no way I'm wearing a bathing suit

*Lack of energy

*Pre-diabetes sugar levels

Here are the things that I am going to miss:

1. Shopping in the Womens section only.

2. Being the biggest one in the crowd.

3. Being tired and out of breath after walking short distance.

4. Black bathing suits with skirts.

I forgot to add that I won't miss lying about my weight on my driver's license. I am about 13 pounds over what I have had on my license for years. At one point I was nearly 75 pounds over what the license had.

I won't miss:

The "four boob syndrome."

People saying "you have such a pretty face."

Having to struggle up the stairs.

Worrying about being the heaviest in the room.

Feeling unhealthy and self conscience all the time.

Buying way too many shoes and handbags because they always look good!

Can't wait to:

Look awsome in a pair of jeans and a white t-shirt (with a cute belt)! :)

Things I am already "not missing":

:blushing:Exceeding my share of the transit seats

:eek:Clothing that is increasingly tight

:sad:Airplane seatbelt extenders

:blink:Sore knees

:crying:Focus on food

I am enjoying:

:biggrin:Compliments

:lol:Energy

 Support

:thumbup:Confidence

Moving in the right direction!!!

Wow all of the above for me

I won't miss huffing and puffing and going one step at a time up stairs. I now can run up them without being out of breath

Able to walk for miles without getting winded

Not having that huge stomach sticking out front any more

Crossing my legs comfortably for the first time in years.

One of my double chins is finally gone for good

Just the all around feeing good about myself is the best thing ever.

23_34_2.gifWhat I won't miss: Pretty much what was already said, but..

1) judging chairs when I go somewhere..will it hold me or break?

2) avoiding stairs when at all possible or taking them 1 @ a time.

3) being afraid of falling and needing help getting up

4) asking my dd to cut my toenails when she comes over

5) the oh my goodness looks from people when I go out to eat.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
