Opinions on Biotin?

Recommended Posts

Hi fellow SPers,

Did any of you take/start taking Biotin to lessen the amount of hairloss? I just started today (the pills are pretty big, so I was affraid the last couple of days). Did anyone take them and not lose their hair at all?

I have some pretty damn thick hair and could probably stand to lose some, but I really don't want to. What are your opinions on Biotin?

I take Biotin every day......my hair is better, but I'm not sure if it's the Vitamins or just time....either way...I'm glad!

I found some Biotin tablets at Target that are tiny, no problem with them at all!

Good to know! I have a whole bottle of them and as soon as I am done with it, I will swing over to Target to get the smaller ones.

I have a feeling I will keep all of my hair if I start to take them now.

I found a chewable/lozenge type Biotin that I take daily. I've always lost hair but don't want to lose more. My hair is thin to begin with and I just DON'T want to go there! Just today, I started to take 2. With some of my supplements I split the doses to make sure I'm absorbing as much as possible. I now do the same with the Biotin.< /span>

This is what I'm taking (in case any one cares! LOL!!):

Gummy Children's Multi-Vit (we already had it, it's what my DD takes)

Calcium w/D Chews

Biotin

1 each in the AM, 1 each in the PM (late afternoon/evening)

liquid Omega

1/2 dose in the AM, 1/2 dose in the PM (one dose is 2tsp)

Acidophilis pill (to keep the health of my intestines w/the weird nutrition)

Diuretic for high blood pressure

1 dose each in the AM (both are small pills)

Best wishes!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
