I've done so well with my weight loss and diet since being banded on 7/28/08. I've been resisting my doctor when he suggests getting a fill, because I've been doing SO well. I've been losing more than 2 lbs a week, counting my calories very exactly, making good choices, and exercising my butt off! And I have enough restriction to not be hungry between meals.

But last night, my husband and I went to a wedding, and I was bad. I drank 3 glasses of wine, ate a days worth of calories in cheese and crackers, and potato chips. Then they opened a buffet line for a full meal (at 10:30 at night, no less) and I ate mashed potatoes, gravy, dressing, and pot roast (I didn't eat much at the buffet, I just didn't want people to ask why I wasn't getting a plate). And then I couldn't resist eating half a cupcake. Thank goodness I ate everything slow and chewed well - thankfully didn't get stuck or anything. But I guess that's why I ate the soft foods, because I knew they wouldn't get stuck. I can understand now how they say people can "eat through" the band. The bad thing is that I don't even KNOW how many calories I consumed.

So this morning, I get on the scale and I'm up an entire pound in one day. I'm so disappointed in myself. Now I'm afraid that I really should go ahead and get the fill that the doctor is strongly recommending. Maybe I really can't do this my way, without the fill. :tongue2:

First of all, congrats on your success so far, and that you made the decision to be banded in the first place!

Second, ONE bad day is not "bad". Everyone has them! You're still human even with your band! You will still have moments of weakness, and that's ok! Enjoy them....(just not often!) :tongue2:

And third....if you think you need a fill, go get one! Thats the beauty of the band! It's adjusted to you! If you think you can eat too much, get that fill! It's worth it! With the band and a little willpower, you will reach your weight loss goals! IM me anytime on here...I check this site everyday!

ps....If you read my latest post, I just jumped back on the wagon from a month long "food vacation", but I didn't gain anything! It happens, but we can't be perfect all the time....how boring we would be! Good luck!

Go back and read your post and weigh your successes since banding against this one "trespass." You should really be proud of yourself for what you have accomplished on your own. Everyone falls off the wagon every now and then. Just get back up on it!:tongue2: And don't put too much importance on the one pound you gained after last night. Instead, get back on track, weigh in on your regular day next week, and you'll probably see that this one evening of debauchery (lol) didn't have as much effect as you feared.

However, there is no shame in getting a fill if you think this could become a common occurrence. After all, that's why you went to the expense and effort to get banded - to have a tool to help in your weight loss. Just curious - has your doctor given you an explanation for his pushing you for a fill, even with your success without one?

My doctor is pushing me for a fill because he says that I don't have a "pouch" until I get a fill. He doesn't want me to wait until I get too hungry, or until I reach a plateau in weight loss. He wants me to go ahead and get adjusted to prevent that from happening. I think I'm doing fine right now. I'm not struggling with hunger. I think I just got swept up this weekend, especially from the wine. I don't know... I think I will just take his advice and get the fill this week. I just hope that I don't have any problems with PB afterwards, or I will definitely regret it!

I was banded a year ago this past September and I ahve done very well. However earlier in the year I had to get a bit unfilled due to a bulge that developed and then I was refilled but slowly, then in June I had the gallbladder removed and a week or so after that I had to get another unfill, yep broke my heart and I had to get a upper GI before the Dr. would fill me back up. Well he did this in July and all went well with the fill I am only at 5 cc in my 10cc band. I have not had any weightloss since May of this year and I just don't get it. I do watch what I eat and I exercise my butt off. I have weiged between 178-180 pounds for several months and this is getting old real fast and discouraging. I dropped from a size 26 to a misses size 12, yep a huge change and I need to drop another 20 pounds and I will be so happy. I still have restriction becuase I can feel it and sometimes I have to PB but not too often. I guess I need another fill but befopre doing so I want another upper GI to be sure that I am not obstrusted by another pouch, by another pouch developing on its own can cause a person not to lose weight, so I have ben told. So now what do I get a fill or try diet aides?

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
