hi everyone, I'm new to the lapband (I have the Realize Band) and was banded on July 31, 2008. Starting weight was 189 now holding at 170. My Goal for the next month is to break the 170 mark.:tongue2:

WHAT IS THE realized band. I have a vg band suppoose to hold more cc:s

My dr told me it was a new type of the LAP BAND. my band holds up to 9cc's. I currently have 3. I go back to the dr. on the 13th and I'm going to ask for another fill. I still don't feel very much restriction. I can't believe you haven't seen the commercials for the Realize Band??? They are all over the TV's here in Alabama.

Have not seen anything on realize band but my vg band can hold up to 11cc account the tubing holds some of the saline in it. I also have 9 to 10cc in it have very little restriction but my main problem is drink when eating and it flushes food right through the band and i sometime cheat the band example i have a hard time eating bread, toast, cake, donuts ect.. So i dunk them in milk to make them soagie and they go down easy but i get on a sugar craving binge and go nuts any suggestion on how to avoid a sugar binge, anyone got a suggestion, thanks

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
