Slipped Band

Recommended Posts

Okay, I think I might have a slipped band. How did you know that your band was slipped?????

I messed up my first week after my surgery and ate some carmelized popcorn...I know, I know... STUPID STUPID thing to do... but I did it and could not eat for 20 hours...that scared me enough not to try anything like that again. But I think I might have forced my band out of place. I don't know why I did it... I was following the rules to the letter and I just went crazy for 1 minute....

I have been on a plateau for 6 weeks....and I have had 1 1/2 cc fill just last week but I don't feel it... too embarrassed to tell my doctor but I know I will have to come clean if I continue not to feel the restriction...

I doubt if your band has slipped unless you were doing a lot of throwing up, or you were too tight for too long and having severe acid reflux.

It's normal to go on plateaus. Just eat right and exercise and the scale will move again.

If this is your first fill, that's normal too to not feel much difference. You didn't say if you know how big your band is, how much it holds, and how many fills you have had.

I have a band that holds 10cc's and I only have 1 1/2cc fill. I had reflux before my surgery, and I just started taking my medication again... because I am having reflux a few times a week. So it's not like I'm taking my medication everyday. I know that I am still eating to much food but I have a problem and I know I need more help but that is why I choose to have the surgery because I do need help. I am just thinking maybe I choose the wrong surgery.

If your band holds 10 ccs and you only have 11/2 you need more fills so you can have the benefits of the band. It's hard to be patient, but once you have more fill in your band, you won't be able to eat nearly as much.

Can you get another fill?

I had my first fill on the 11th of November this year...that's why I thought I would fill it more because it has been so soon ago... but I don't feel like I even had a fill....I can still eat the same amount of food...that is why I got the surgery I need help stopping me from eating. How long before you can go in for another refill...I know all doctors are different but what is the average? Does anyone know?:)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
