Banded 9/30 Problems

Recommended Posts

I was banded on Sept. 30 and all has not gone well. I must tell you that I had some unususal complications. The doctor told me he was going to repair a hernia in my navel. During surgery he found that mesh that had been put in my abdoninal area to repair hernias from previous surgery had worked lose and had migrated to the wall of my stomach. Needless to say, it involved quite a procedure to remove this. I was sent home the next day and have been understandably uncomfortable. I am doing my best to follow all his instructions but starting yesterday morning, anytime I eat anything I break into a cold sweat that absolutely will NOT stop. I prespire so badly from my head and upper body it is hard to believe. Nothing helps. Has anyone experienced anything like this?

You need to call your doctor ASAP. That is not normal and it sounds really serious.

I would agree, call your doctor asap. Maybe it is nothing, but you should just make sure. I wish you well. I was banded on 9/30 as well.

Good Luck and keep us posted.

KIM

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
