First fill fears

Recommended Posts

That only natural and that's just because you dont know what to expect. You are only going to feel the stick from the needle they use to numb the area with and after that it just feels like some pushing. Just dont look, you'll be just fine.

It's not much of a deal like Tanya said, so try to relax and not worry. After it is all over you will wonder why you were so nervous.

Hi

I was also very scared the first time.It was actually a good experience.I do put EMLA on the portsite half an hour to one hour before I go to dr.That way he doesnt even give me numbing injection.Emla numbs the skin area and I dont even feel the needle. All I feel is when he feels for the port but I must say he has been spot on everytime.

Dont worry it will be ok..

That is so funny you mention that because I was not even nervous about the surgery, even as they were wheeling me back (I think it's cause my husband was nervous enough for both of us LOL). But I go for my first fill today and I'm acutally kinda nervous. I think it's mostly because the whole PBing is more likely after you have some restriction and the thought that i know i'm not going to be able to eat like I have been lately.

Getting a fill isbn't so bad. It is usually over with quickly and without much discomfort. But it is okay for you to be worried. You will do fine. Let us know how it goes. Good luck!!!

hi

EMLA is a cream that you can use to numb the skin area completely. We used it is SA for my child that had a skin implant every month and now here in Dubai I buy it at any pharmacy. It is a topicat anaesthetic.

Ask your pharmasist about it maybe you need a script for it there. Here you can buy practically anything without prescription.

For me it really works.Dont even need a skin local when doing fill...

Dr rehnkes office numbs the skin with a spray first, is what they said.. So I'm not worried to much there, but maybe cuz I dont have my band yet..... :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
