I really am new. I am 66 years old and just starting the steps. I only need 2 more things to get done. I am hoping that it does not take too long for Medicare to approve me. I am getting excited. Medicare gave me a new knee last year, and I have been losing ever since i could start walking around again. So many chores had piled up and still not done. I also had surgery done on my c spine, it was poking into my spinal cord, it came out great also. So now that I can walk good and raise my arms up, I want to be healthy in the other ways also. I also have Neuropathy also. So wish me luck, and lots of success.....:crying:

Thank you so much for the good words. Yes I hope to be a new woman. Today I helped put up a new fence for the dogs. I had the gates moved in so I have a long driveway to park the cars in. I was getting tired of opening up the gates, then get out of the car and close the gates. Chase down the dogs and etc. Of course the exercise is good..lol..But when winter really gets here, I won't have to shovel the gates out so I can get out of my yard. Since my DH has COPD and congestive heart failure no help there.

Enough of this..

Louise

Guess what, I have a surgery date. Nov 24, 2008. I am getting so excited. How do I put a ticker up. I am down 20lbs. I am on day 2 of all liquid Protein. Would be nice to lose more lbs before surgery. The nice thing is i won't gain it back.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
