I've had the same problem since surgery. My surgery was on 9/12 and I had my first bowel movement about a week later, and the second last week. This is very unusual for me; I have always been very regular -- everyday at approximately the same time!! I have used Miralax and have also starting eating Activia yogurt. Hopefully, the yogurt will work as advertised.

I bought activia for that reason. Didn't believe the ads, but I'll tell you, since starting mushies, (and I start real food today) I can tell you this.... it's a lifesaver for me. And only 70 calories (light version), for 4 ounces. Leaves me feeling full, and I go almost daily, little bits. But if I miss a day, I'll go right back to constipated.

Oh I tried the miralax, the colace, and even the benefiber. Not much relief, just lots of gas.

I have had this problem since surgery 07/30/08. We tried everything.. Now on Colace 200 twice a day and a magnesium tablet. On top of it all I have pulled my back out... I sound like a whine bag... But I hurt... I was just the opposite before surgery could go all the time(sorry for being gross).. I hope these meds work.. But I would hope they would wait until I get off work:):cursing:

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
