That time of the month and Food

Recommended Posts

This is my 4th time having my periods since being banded. I only realised it last month that everytime I have had them since being banded I am able to eat so much more than any other time.

Anyone else?

interesting!

for me, I crave more foods, but eat less due to more restriction.

This is really the only time that I have to eat v e r y small bites and slow down even more.

I am usually so tight during my TOTM that I can barely get anything more then mushies down. I asked my fill Dr. about it and he said that it's because of the extra Fluid that I carry. Truthfully, I have at least 1 PB every day of of my TOM so I have to be extra careful about what I eat. Even oatmeal gets stuck. That's one of the reasons I'm hesitant to get a 3rd fill. The rest of the month I have plenty of room with my band.

Well, TOM is now leaving and today I have been so much more restricted again. It really is wierd, maybe it might have something to do with cravings while having them. I know I have felt like chocolate sooooooo bad. :D

I got restricted this time around...this is my third? period since banding and I got stuck on every first bite of each meal! But this didn't happen until about 2 days into about a 5 day period. It was interesting to notice that this month.

"WOOF. Please pass me the cow." That's me a week before my period. But when the bitch gets here, I'm practically on mushies cause I get extra restriction from the bloat.

I'm with you DeLarla - I could eat the house if it wasn't bolted down. I am struggling with it right now!! Why couldn't I have been like this on the 4th? Made all this food and all I could eat was 1/2 a brat and a few spoonfuls of baked beans!! What luck I have!!!

Yup that's me too...I know lots of women get much tighter right before their period starts, but not me...wide open...makes trying to ignore the cravings during PMS very difficult LOL ack

oddly enough I just had my first period in 6 months just this week and it was a doozy and I was thinking I was feeling extra piggy for junk-I cant really eat meat unless its chicken salad or ground beef-other meats get stuck but sadly I sure can eat chips and Cookies.< /p>

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
