I Got My Surgery Date...Where Are The November Bandsters?

Recommended Posts

Where is everyone!! I know we are all busy with getting ready for Christmas:tt2:

I'm here! I see everyone's posts, I've just not been in a posting mood lately. So much going on!

Did you ever order the Optimum Nutrition Protein powders I suggested, or was that someone else? So many of us - I can't remember!!! :w00t:

Also, I'd just like to post that I've finally hit my stride - almost 2 weeks after my fill, haha. Numbers on the scale finally headed in the right direction (for a change) and they're not going back up! Lowest I've been since surgery this morning - YEEHAW!!!

Jamie~ Can you post the site again? I tried some stuff at our local store and it was awful. lol

I heard the same thing. If you don't eat at least 800 to 1000 cals. Your body goes in to fight mode and you won't lose. I have my first fill on the 29th. I can't wait. Right now I'm full after eatting small amounts. I normaly have 3 oz meat with lunch & dinner. I haven't been snacking much. I seem to be full for about 5 hours in between meals.

There are several different types of Optimum Nutrition Protein powders, but I get the "Optimum Nutrition 100% Gold whey Protein" flavors. The vanilla Ice Cream and Rocky Road flavors are

Someone on here said that site I posted offers a sample pack of all flavors, so you might try that first if you want to find a flavor you really like.

I am 2 weeks since my first fill (Dec 5th) and just this past Monday I started to feel good restriction. Be warned - it might be a delayed reaction! Everyone is different, so there's really no way to know!

I have been the same way for the past couple of days!! I have absolutely no restriction. The swelling in my stomach must have gone down and now the band is just sitting there. I think that is what is going on?? I am able to eat anything and now feeling really hungry again. I am going to try and get back into the good choices tomorrow. Right now I am eating sugar free Russell Stovers candy!! I am trying to stick to alot of Protein, but am able to eat way more than 3 oz at a sitting. My fill is January 15th:eek:

Hi there

Its nice when we have honesty on line. Yes it was very nice to see that some others bumped up a bit when they added food. I was so upset when I did till I read on line that others have. I went up 4 lbs and 3 days later down 3 so only up 1.

Keep up the good work we need each other over Christmas for support.

:huh2:

I don't have a fill until mid-January, so the monkey's on my back. I really rarely am hungry and I'm trying to pay attention to that. I need to keep track of the Protein, I'm not doing that right now, just guestimating and I'm sure it's hurting my weight loss.

I have eaten a few Cookies and don't know why, just bad habits, cause I really don't need them. At work I've been able to ignore most all of the food they've had and trust me there's been a lot.

I will seek out the whey protein powder, as the whey powder I have is nasty tasting.

showmepat, you should try the Optimum Nutrition 100% Gold Whey Protein powders. My husband is a body builder and has tried every supplement out there and swears that these are the best. They have a sampler pack available that isn't that expensive, so you could try all the flavors and see which ones you like. My favorite is the vanilla Ice Cream and his favorites are the Rocky Road and the strawberry. Sampler pack here.... Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
