I really didn't think much about the tests but now you guys have me nervous lol . I'm scheduled for Oct 13th. Would love to hear from people who have had the tests done and what their experience was.....

Hi ,I just had my upper GI done today ,and at first I was nervous and a little scared .I arrived at the hospital a6:30 am. went straight to the lab for blood work (to make sure I wasn't pregnant). Then headed to one day surgery . Everything was explained to me and off I went to the OR . Talked with my doctor and out I went ,I awoke in recovery feeling great and refreshed . The nurse came in explained the findings hiatal hernia ,and inflammation or the lower esophagus.I was then told I would receive a phone call in 3 days and to go home and relax, not bad at all . I kinda knew there was something wrong ,but never would I have had this done if not for the lap-band ,now I'll get that fixed and I 'll be feeling like I haven't in years (WONDERFUL). Only one more test to do the sleep apnea on the 21st of November ,then I should be good to go with the date ,of course after insurance approval that is .I hope this information can helpful to you .

Well, I had my upper GI in October and it was tollerable. I had to drink this nasty pop rock fizzy stuff, which was followed by this think chalky white stuff. Over all the fluids I had to drink for the test were gross.

While drinking the fluids I had to turn my body at different angles of the x-ray table. I think it took about 30-minutes to complete. The doctor that performed the procedure was very nice and so was his assistant.

My tests results were good and I am having surgery tomorrow morning.

Hi everybody, I just had different tests done on Sat. the chest x-ray, leg us and stomach us. I had the colonoscopy and the one for my stomach from a different doctor this year. The worst Acid Reflux and heital hernia. Can anybody tell me how this affect me with the lap band, the surgery, getting it repaired, PAIN, I am going to do this but I am very scared of pain. Doctors already know. Do you stay on the first phase of liquids longer cause of both?

My surgeon doesn't require it, but one of his associates does (Dr. Kurian). So it's hit or miss, even within the same practice!

No upper GI here. Stress test and echo scheduled for Thursday, a WEEK before surgery!!! They say the stress test is because my age is >45 and I have hypertension. Hope I can do the exercise!!!

I forgot to mention that my surgeon looks for and repairs hiatal hernias once he's inside, since he's there anyway. I think that's why he doesn't bother with the upper GI.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
