Hi,

I had my surgery about 2 months ago and I am having port pain. This is the first for me. It feels like it is just so sore like I hit it on something.

I think I read that during TOM, it can be sore but I don't know if that is true or not.

Anyone know?

Thanks!

Gilta

Hi,

I have not had a fill yet, so that isn't it. I exercised on Monday and this started Wed am so I don't think it was related to that.

I have lost 43 since I started and about 30 since surgery.

i wished i knew why your port was sore. mine is still sore from my first fill a week ago.

I don't really have any secrets. I eat about 800-900 calories a day and work out 2-3 times per week. I know the exercise has helped me out a lot. In the beginning I could only get about 300 calories in a day so that is where I lost a lot of my weight. I have slowed down a lot since I can eat more.

Hopefully someone will let me know why this is happening!

Hang in there, you will lose!

I am scheduled to go next friday for my fill. If it isn't better by Monday I will call and see what they want to do. It is strange as in the morning it is ok and it is by evening when it gets sore.

Good news is I am down another 2 lbs!

oh mine does that too. i usually have to come home and put on something (like a gown) that doesn't bind me in anyway.

the port is sewn to a muscle. and by the end of the day mine is pulling and bothering me. not sure if this is the same as yours though.

What is TOM? I have seen it referred to several times. I am not quite up on all the abbreviations.

It means Time of Month.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
