I'm not losing weight!!!!

Recommended Posts

I had surgery Aug 18. I went into surgery at 258...

On 8/28 I weight 244... ( 14 lbs lost in 10 days)

on 9/4 I weight 236... (22 lbs lost in 14 days)

and now it's 10/2 and I weight 235. I've lost one lbs in a month!

What is wrong?????

I AM WORKING OUT! I AM keeping my calories between 900-1100 calories.

I feel like crying!;):cool2:

I am self-pay and feeling really disappointed in myself. There are times I have eaten sweets and things, but I have always remained under my calorie intake for the day in that case.

I just don't know what's wrong!!!

2x a week 30 minutes walking, light weights

You really won't see the benefits of having a lap band until you have good restriction. In order to get good restriction, you need to have Fills. I see that you had your first fill last week. Based on your signature, I'm guessing you have a 10cc band. I've heard of people (and this is how it was for me too) needing two or three fills before they start getting restriction. The idea of the band is that it will physically limit you from eating, thereby reducing your intake, and causing weight loss.

You are doing fine....don't panic.

Oh, and one other thing I always like to remind people of: YOU ARE NOT ON A DIET!!! You have made a LIFE CHANGE. Don't worry about dropping a bunch of weight very quickly. The band WILL work, you WILL lose weight, and you SHOULD keep it off for the rest of your life. Think bigger, sister--beyond just what the scale says once a week....hope that helps.

Your weight loss is incredible!! That is really fast weight loss! Your body is just catching up with itself! Weight loss is never linear and it's not as simple as eating X amount of calories and exercising, and you will lose exactly 2.2 pounds a week, etc... There are sooo many factors at work. Trust me, keep up exactly what you are doing and in a few weeks you will see the scale going down again. Every time I have ever lost significant amounts of weight, it would then stall. The body just seems to need a time of adjustment. You're doing awesome!!

I would also like to add - it might not be pounds you see going down - but inches! Which to me is just as good or even better at times!

Keep up the good work!

I am in the same place as you are! I have only lost 4 lbs this past month. I am scheduled for a fill late next week. It will be my first so hopefully this will help!

I am a slow loser. There have been several times since surgery that I have went a week or two without losing a pound. But, during that time I was majorly losing inches. I have dropped from a size 24 to a 17/18 since July, but the scale has only moved 17 lbs. Give your body time. Lapband is not a fast process. You're doing well.

You're moving in the right direction so keep your chin up!!

I will suggest increasing your exercise. I've increased my walking to 2.5 miles per day (50mins), 5 days a week. Start slowely. Perhaps do your 30mins 3-4x's per wk, then work on increasing your time. More exercise gives your body that metabolism boost to help fight off more fat.

Thank you everyone!

I think I actually deleted some part though!

I am swimming for 45 minutes 3x a week AND walking 2x a week for 30 minutes. I also do yoga one day a week for abut 1 1/2 hours, but it's not aerobic, just stretching, relaxing and holding my muscles in painful positions!

Don't worry it will come. I just came off a TWO month plateau, but I went down a pants size and Lost NOTHING. Then today after two months, the scale is down 6 lbs in two days.

Plus with all your working out your gaining muscle, which weighs more than fat.

Our bodies play tricks on us, especially with the help of the scale.< /p>

You are doing fantastic.

I was banded more than a month ahead of you and barely lost more than you have. You are doing awesome. You are also probably building muscle with the new works outs. Anytime you start working out you retain more Water and muscle weighs more than fat, so working out stalls out your weight loss for a while, but you are losing inches, just not pounds right now.

Take your measurements so you can see your own progress.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
