my doctor said one week. you have to be able to turn your head around to look behind you, which requires stomach muscles.

My doctor told me no driving if I am still taking the liquid Lortab as it would be dangerous. I drove towards the end of week two and it was still painful to look over my shoulder.

I was told I could drive 24 hours after my last narcotic pain med. I had my surgery on Friday, took my last pain med on Saturday, and was driving by Monday.

The doctor said one week but I had to drive 2 days after surgery but I wasn't on any pain meds either

I was told that I could drive as soon as I was off the pain meds for a day. Driving was pretty easy once I got started, getting in and out of the car was a little trying in that I was sore.

I drove myself 3 hours home from the hospital. I knew this was going to happen so I didn't take any pain meds after a certain point the night before. It sucked, but I made it through.

My surgeon said pretty much the same thing, I could drive 24 hours after my last dose of pain medicine. I had surgery on a Thursday and was driving that Saturday night. The only thing about driving that bothered me (and still does at my port site) is hitting big bumps in the road. If I see the bump in time, I brace my stomach like I would to cough. You just have to do what is comfortable for you. For me, I didn't have a choice. I was only able to arrange transportation for my son the first 2 days.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
